Billy Graham Story (Revised)
$19.99Add to cartAn updated account of the inspiring and influential life of Dr. Billy Graham When the hijacked planes slammed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001, President Bush immediately proclaimed a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance. For the interfaith, interdenominational service at the Washington National Cathedral he chose Billy Graham to give the address. At that terrible hour no other clergyman, whatever his office, could so aptly bring the Word of God to America and a watching world. At 84, Billy Graham remains one of the most respected people in the world today. He has addressed over eighty-two million people face to face and at least one billion people through television, radio, and satellite. Yet he is far more than an evangelist of integrity and vision; he is a Christian statesman whose profound influence on the growth and depth of Christianity across the world cannot be overestimated. This official biography of Dr. Graham is based on his private files, correspondence, and interviews, as well as the author’s widespread research. Written by John Pollock, Dr. Graham’s official biographer, parts one and two (1918 to 1978), based on Pollock’s authorized biographies, have been abridged and contain new material. Part three (1978 to 1983) deals at length with Dr. Graham’s controversial visit to Moscow, which can now be seen as a factor in the fall of communism. Part four (1984 to 2003) updates the story to recent events, including the horrors of September 11 and the honorary knighthood Dr. Graham received from the Queen of England in December 2001. An 8-page section of black-and-white photos are new to this book.

Go Hard Into The Wind And Waves
$17.49Add to cartGo Hard into the Wind and Waves is a true story. The events that led to a tragedy at sea for the outrigger canoe team were to Tino Rico the final crucible in a lifetime of wrong decisions that took him into drugs, gang activity, and prison before he surrendered his life to Jesus. This ultimate trial came suddenly on January 3, 1999. In fifty-degree water, six men clung to the sunken outrigger canoe for five hours, while high winds and waves beat them to exhaustion in the Channel Island area of the Pacific Ocean. Tino’s story was documented on the Discovery TV special on hypothermia titled Survival. Two men died in this tragedy at sea. This story is full of courage and hope in a mighty God that proved no matter how dark the circumstances, he will see you through. “An amazing story of faith and courage, thought provoking.” Pastor Tom Riggs, Friend and Mentor “What an incredible testimony of the process of transformation.” Dr. Leah Coulter, Sr. Assoc. Pastor, Channel Island Vineyard Church, Oxnard.

Cash : The Autobiography
$16.99Add to cartHe was the “Man in Black,” a country music legend, and the quintessential American troubadour. He was an icon of rugged individualism who had been to hell and back, telling the tale as never before. In his unforgettable autobiography, Johnny Cash tells the truth about the highs and lows, the struggles and hard-won triumphs, and the people who shaped him.
In his own words, Cash set the record straight — and dispelled a few myths — as he looked unsparingly at his remarkable life: from the joys of his boyhood in Dyess, Arkansas to superstardom in Nashville, Tennessee, the road of Cash’s life has been anything but smooth. Cash writes of the thrill of playing with Elvis, the comfort of praying with Billy Graham; of his battles with addiction and of the devotion of his wife, June; of his gratitude for life, and of his thoughts on what the afterlife may bring. Here, too, are the friends of a lifetime, including Willie Nelson, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, and Kris Kristofferson. As powerful and memorable as one of his classic songs, Cash is filled with the candor, wit, and wisdom of a man who truly “walked the line.”

For My Good But For His Glory
$26.49Add to cartIf I Knew Back Then What I Know Now… I grew up sheltered in a large family, wanting to be “free” and on my own, and looking for love and acceptance. This led to marrying the wrong person who gave me the attention I longed for, but after eleven years and two babies I was divorced. I was a single woman in the vicious cycle of dating men out of the will of God. I was then a married woman, a divorced woman, and a single parent, and suffered the trauma of the death of my firstborn. In spite of all that I’ve gone through, everything was for my good and for God’s glory, because nothing with him goes to waste. Everything you’ve ever gone through, no matter how bad or good, is not in vain, because God has a plan. He said …Gather up now the fragments (the broken pieces that are left over), so that nothing may be lost and wasted. (JOHN 6:12 AMP)

Chapter One : A Modern Day Testimony
$16.99Add to cartIn a world full of crime, tragedy, and death, we do not hear enough of the positive events. The world seems to be most interested in who died, who slept with whom, who killed whom, and so on. Tragedy is the top story of every news program and the headline of every newspaper. Where is the good news? We do not hear about what God is doing. We all have stories to tell. Just think if no one had written down the accounts that we now read in the Bible, or if historians had not recorded the events from which we get our history books. No one would know that God exists today, and our past would be lost. This book is an account of the first ten years of my walk with the Lord. My desire is that this book will glorify God, and encourage you in the challenges you face. May it inspire you to write your own story.

God I Love
$24.99Add to cart“The God I Love is the book that captures my heart and thoughts in the events, dialogues, memories, images, and scenes of my life_my walk with God.”_Joni Eareckson Tada Joni’s name is synonymous around the world with the words “loving God.” She has lived out these words since the diving accident thirty-six years ago that left her paralyzed from the shoulders down. Now in The God I Love she looks back on the whole of her life through eyes that can see how that accident actually moved her in a new direction, saving her from another tragedy of her own making. This story-driven narrative captures the events and images of Joni’s remarkable life as she describes her life in six themes. She begins with her life as an ordinary girl who is blessed by an extraordinary God_but not without tragic turns. Then she ponders the question, would she have been an artist if she had not broken her neck? She recognizes that through prayer she enters into God’s holy presence and finds that he answers her prayers in full measure. She acknowledges that it is only through the kindness of friends that she has bathed or eaten or done the countless simple tasks that make up everyday life. Because of her unusual situation, her wheelchair has rolled onto platforms around the world where millions of people have heard her speak about her Savior. Through tragedy Joni has come to know God, the living, surprising, wonderful Lord of all. A note from Joni_ The God I Love is a memory still unfolding of the journey that keeps taking me deeper into the heart of my Savior. It’s my prayer that this story, which spans over fifty years, will resonate with each person who takes time to pick up the book…it’s my prayer that The God I Love will serve as a roadmap, a guide, a signpost to light the journey of each reader, helping them to see their sweet, soft desperation of Jesus, too.

Searching For God In Godforsaken Times And Places
$19.50Add to cart152 pages
Additional Info
This heartfelt book recounts the author’s personal struggles with doubt, uncertainty, and skepticism in the face of three consequential life experiences the death of his parents, his life as a black American, and his lifelong preoccupation with the Nazi Holocaust. For Hubert Locke, as for many others who share his circumstances or sensitivities, these experiences have presented a serious challenge to conventional Christian teaching. They have forced him to reexamine Scripture, where he has ultimately and beneficially discovered a remarkable congeniality on the part of biblical writers with doubters and skeptics.
“Doubt is not an act of unbelief,” Locke writes. “In fact and ironically, doubt may be a supreme act of faith and devotion. If this is too much to claim, at least doubt and skepticism are stances that Scripture understands and for which the Bible has the utmost sympathy.”
“Searching for God in Godforsaken Times and Places” is a heart-cry by one person whose honest journey through life has earned him a special kind of spiritual peace, a person who has profound insights to offer others seeking to live Christianly in a confusing, contradictory world. Penetrating and sensitive, questioning and honest, this book is for believers and seekers alike who are looking for a meaningful, real discussion of life’s duplicity.

Footprints In My Rearview Mirror
$17.49Add to cartPeople leave footprints that run through other lives. Sometimes they gradually increase to make a path, which becomes a trail, then a rutted road, a highway, a freeway, and on and on into one’s fading memories. Some of them are but little puffs in the dust or snow, while others are huge craters and ruts in the mud that leave big scars or become great indelible lessons about life as one passes through the world system toward eternity. The people and events mentioned in this book are real and are recorded as accurately as possible. So as not to misrepresent anyone or anything, many unclear parts have been omitted. The Japanese American WWII experience had a heavy impact on the circumstances that shaped the sociological, psychological, and spiritual post-war life of Mr. Oiye. This book is written to illustrate how God chose the author to become a believer and follower of Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord from the beginning, and how He guarantees that it will not only happen, but He will continue to provide the means to match the circumstance. “Just getting old is a sterile way of life, but growing old gracefully is a God-given gift.”

She prayed for God to use whatever method necessary to show Christina her need for help. God answered this prayer far differently than she had ever imagined. During the year that followed, information came to light that changed every life in this family forever. Ms. Schiager writes of the devastating realities that came to light, how the Lord brought her through it victoriously, how her relationship with Christ deepened through it all, and how she learned to trust God’s will in everything. She tells about many answered prayers and blessings that she experienced through it all. She describes it this way: “This past year has definitely been the stormiest in my life, but there were so many rainbows, I was compelled to share them. Making Of A Christian Psychiatrist
$17.49Add to cartMany people, both physicians and laypersons, view psychiatry, a specialty of medicine, as anywhere from mysterious to menacing. Some of the strongest reactions come from Bible-based Christian people. Most of the people with mental or emotional problems that I saw in Alaska, in my nineteen years (19501969) as a medical missionary, needed more expert professional help than I was capable of giving them. This led to my undeniable attraction to psychiatric training after the Alaska years. Through all my medical years, I have inquired about every patient’s personal faith in God, if any, and what part it played in his or her life. Sometimes either the presence or absence of faith contributed to their mental and emotional state. My years as a primary care physician also served me well in evaluating somatic problems. Every believer in Jesus Christ as Savior is equipped to be a more complete person in this life, as well as a possessor of eternal life. I am equally convinced that any physician is a more adequately equipped professional when he or she trusts the Savior.

Welcome Silence : My Triumph Over Schizophrenia (Revised)
$24.95Add to cartThis is the amazing true story of one woman’s journey deep into mental illness and her return to sanity — and to a successful life and career. Carol North was diagnosed with schizophrenia in college. The story of her life is traced from her early life in a middle class small-town family in the Midwest. For many years, Carol struggled against overwhelming odds to achieve in school in spite of her illness and was finally admitted to medical school to pursue her hopes and dreams of becoming a doctor. In medical school, however, she slid further into psychosis and finally succumbed the inexorable incapacitation so often characteristic of the illness. Carol was fortunate enough, however, to find a skilled psychiatrist who understood her dedication to becoming a physician and who worked with her to stay well enough to remain in school. When all hope seemed lost, her doctor enrolled her in an experimental dialysis program, similar to the treatment given to patients with kidney failure. With this treatment, her illness went away and she no longer required medication for it.
This engrossing and ultimately triumphant story of courageous struggle against mental illness will inspire anyone who has ever had to battle for achievement against overwhelming odds. After recovering from her illness, Carol returned to school and received her medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri in 1983. She then completed her internship and residency at Barnes Hospital/Washington University, and subsequently obtained a masters degree in psychiatric epidemiology (the study of psychiatric disorders in populations) while simultaneously pursuing a NIMH fellowship in psychiatric epidemiology at Washington University.

Dare To Believe
$13.49Add to cartHere is a story of one man’s battle with Parkinson’s Disease, and his victory over that pain. In this goal, Mark Sharp has been an inspiration as an author. He relays the immense struggles and life changes that took place for him and his family, and in the end we feel joy at his prognosis.
Here too, is a story of a Christian sharing his view of the gospel. If you are looking for guidance in this area, this is the book for you. I am certain that it will inspire many. However, if you are not interested in Mark’s view of the power of God and the Christian viewpoint, I suggest that this is not a book for you. It could be argued that the book is pure propaganda, but since it portrays the events of this man’s life, it is also a miraculous story.
The book is short but concise and to the point. The story is well written and the points of argument are well documented and introduced. While I do not agree with most of the content, the purpose of the author is fulfilled and I applaud him.
The basic idea of the book is comparing life with a game. There are rules to follow if you want to win and Mark spells out many of them and leads the reader to discover the rest on their own journey, and find their own coach waiting for them on the field. While my own coaches told me that winning is not important – it is how you play the game that counts, Mark’s coach told him that winning is the most important, and that is the fun of the game. Different philosophies and different outlooks on life, lead to different appreciations for this title. Take it as you will. Either way, the joyous result of victory over a disease is a reason worth reading this one.

Crossing Over : One Womans Escape From Amish Life
$13.99Add to cartRuth Irene Garrett was the fifth of seven children raised in Kalona, Iowa, as a member of a strict Old Order Amish community. She was brought up in a world filled with rigid rules and intense secrecy, in an environment where the dress, buggies, codes of conduct, and way of life differed even from other Amish societies only 100 miles away. This compelling narrative takes us inside a hidden community, offering a striking look as one woman comes to terms with her discontent and ultimately leaves her family, faith and the sheltered world of her childhood. Unsatisfied, she bravely crosses over to contemporary life to fully explore the foreign and frightening reality in hope of better understanding her emotional and spiritual desires.
