    • Being The Body (Expanded)

      $19.99

Charles Colson has been called, “one of the most important social reformers in a generation.” Ten years ago in The Body, Colson turned his prophetic attention to the church and how it might break out of its cultural captivity and reassert its biblical identity. Today the book’s classic truths have not changed. But the world we live in has. Christians in America have had their complacency shattered and their beliefs challenged. Around the world, the clash of world views has never been more strident. Before all of us, daily, are the realities of life and death, terror and hope, light and darkness, brokenness and healing. We cannot withdraw to the comfort of our sanctuaries…we must engage. For, if ever there was a time for Christians to be the Body of Christ in the world, it is now. In this new, revised and expanded edition of The Body, Charles Colson revisits the question, “What is the church and what is its relevance to contemporary culture at large?” Provocative and insightful, Being the Body inspires us to rise above a stunted “Jesus and me” faith to a nobler view of something bigger and grander than ourselves–the glorious, holy vision for which God created the church. • Liberwocky : What Liberals Say And What They Really Mean

      $15.99

Laid out like a dictionary A-to-Z (much like Ambrose Bierce’s Devil’s Dictionary), Liberwocky takes a close and comedic look at how liberals use and abuse language to manipulate the citizenry and their attitudes. Having forty years of political and media experience, Gold sees through the trickery of today’s political rhetoric. And in this book, he exposes their techniques, their verbal twists and devious turns of phrase, in a way that is both provocative and hilarious. Including sections such as: “Truly Stupid Liberal Ideas” (poking fun at the U.N., Peurto Rican statehood, and voting rights for felons) and “The American Liberal’s All Time Enemies List” (fifty conservatives liberals love to hate), this book-both mocking and informative-is an enjoyable romp through the language of modern politics.

When people realize that their womb is purposeful with perfect potential, they will pursue God’s plan for them. From Adam to Jesus Christ and now to mankind, the womb is under attack. Our sacred womb is God’s beautiful and completed work. We must allow the womb to birth its content and thwart the plan of the enemy. • Because They Never Asked

      $16.86

Writing from a Jewish perspective, Lonnie Lane tells the story of how God supernaturally revealed Himself to her. She first sensed the presence of Yeshua (Jesus) when in Israel with her synagogue. This led her through a long intellectual struggle with questions that many Jews ask about God.When God spoke to her audibly, in power and tenderness, she knew why Abraham and Moses obeyed upon hearing His Voice. One by one, her family members came to the Lord, each with his or her own unique encounter with God. Her love for God, for Israel, and for her Jewish people will touch your heart. “It is unusual for an entire immediate Jewish family to accept the Lord. The Lanes are such a family. They are a prototype of what God is about to do with Jewish families worldwide. I urge you to read, enjoy, and learn about this most unusual Jewish Mishpochah (family).” -Sid Roth, President, Messianic Vision

      Description
‘I am a Christian’ is the confession of the martyrs of early Christian texts and, no doubt, of many others; but what did this confession mean, and how was early Christian identity constructed? This innovative study sets the emergence of Christian identity in the first two centuries, as it is constructed by the broad range of surviving literature, within the wider context of Jewish and Graeco-Roman identity. It uses a number of models from contemporary constructionist views of identity formation to explore how what comes to be seen as ‘Christian’ literature creates a sense of what to be ‘a Christian’ means, and traces both continuities and discontinuities with the ways in which Jewish and Graeco-Roman identity were also being constructed through their texts. It seeks to acknowledge the centrality of texts in shaping early Christianity, historically as well as in our perception of it, while also exploring how we might move from those texts to the individuals and communities who preserved them. Such an approach challenges more traditional emphases on the development of institutions, whether structures or credal and ethical formulations, which often fail to recognize the rhetorical function of the texts on which they draw, and the uncertainties of how well these reflect the actual practice and experience of individuals and communities. While building on recent recognition of the diversity of early Christianity, the book goes on to explore the question whether it is possible to speak of a distinctive Christian identity across both the range of early texts and as a pressing historical and theological question in the contemporary world.

    • Pastoral Protocol : A Guide To Ministerial Ethics

      $19.36

Every profession and vocation has rules that govern its operation and dictates the behaviour and conduct of its professors, so also is the church world. The ministry has ethics of behaviour different from all other professions. In this book, the minister’s relation with his church, community, opposite sex and colleagues are all spelt out. Dealing with finances, the family and denomination amongst others have also been dealt with by Dr. Agyin-Asare. Pastoral Protocol emphasises the fact that people’s opinion about God and Christianity and your own church are shaped by the ethical standards the minister maintains. Ministers of the gospel, ministers in training, aspiring Church leaders, lay church workers and in fact every individual believer who sees himself herself as part of the “universal priesthood of the believer” would benefit by this book to prevent spiritual disaster and ministry suicide. Apostle Dr. Michael Ntumy M.Th President of the Ghanna Pentecostal Council, Chairman of the Church of Pentecost I thorougly enjoyed this book “Pastoral Protocol”. It is one of the best I have ever read on this subject. Every minister should read it. Bishop Paul E. Paino D.D., Th.D, D.Lt. Carol Road Christian Fellowship Fort Wayne, Indiana

    • Worship Wars In Early Lutheranism

      $175.00

How important was music to Martin Luther? Drawing on hundreds of liturgical documents, contemporary accounts of services, books on church music, and other sources, Joseph Herl rewrites the history of music and congregational song in German Lutheran churches. Herl traces the path of music and congregational song in the Lutheran church from the Reformation to 1800, to show how it acquired its reputation as the “singing church.”

In the centuries after its founding, in a debate that was to have a strong impact on Johann Sebastian Bach and his contemporaries, the Lutheran church was torn over a new style of church music that many found more entertaining than devotional. By the end of the eighteenth century, Lutherans were trying to hold their own against a new secularism, and many members of the clergy favored wholesale revision or even abandonment of the historic liturgy in order to make worship more relevant in contemporary society. Herl paints a vivid picture of these developments, using as a backdrop the gradual transition from a choral to a congregational liturgy.

The author eschews the usual analyses of musical repertoire and deals instead with events, people and ideas, drawing readers inside the story and helping them sense what it must have been like to attend a Lutheran church in the sixteenth through eighteenth centuries. Parallel developments in Catholic churches are discussed, as are the rise of organ accompaniment of hymns and questions of musical performance practice. Although written with academic precision, the writing is clear and comprehensible to the nonspecialist, and entertaining anecdotes abound.
Appendixes include translations of several important historical documents and a set of tables outlining the Lutheran mass as presented in 172 different liturgical orders. The bibliography includes 400 Lutheran church orders and reports of ecclesiastical visitations read by the author.

      $24.99

At any gathering, you will likely see both abusers and victims. In Christian theology, we have approached these two very different types of people with a single solution. Having drawn a map of salvation for sinners, we ignore the victims, making it their responsibility to find their way back to peace. Park argues it is time for the church and its theology to remedy this situation by using an Asian religious concept called han–the psychic and spiritual pain caused by unjust oppression–as a way of healing the wounds of abuse and violence.

    • In The Beginning Creativity

      $45.00

Gordon Kaufman’s bold and highly regarded works over the last thirty years have pushed theologians to examine honestly, if painfully, their most cherished assumptions about God. Now, in this major contribution to the theology-and-science debate, he argues that our traditional thinking about and worship of God have prepared us badly for perhaps the most important problem we face today–the ecological crisis.
Kaufman begins with a survey of the pluriform development and effects of the notion of God. He then demonstrates how these concepts of God have become out of sync with contemporary understandings of the world and humanity. He offers an alternative concept by distinguishing the different modalities of creativity as they figure in the creation of the universe, the cosmic evolutionary process (especially the emergence of life), and human symbolic creativity. Finally, he sketches their interconnections and demonstrates in what way they stand for the divine. This volume not only develops further than ever before Kaufman’s idea of God as creativity but also shows what it would mean to think of God in this way, to live with faith in this God, and to cooperate with the divine in meeting our most pressing challenges.

      $22.48

Stand and Deliver is a practical manual for deliverance ministry. It is designed to present usable instruction for the conduct of deliverance ministry. As the Introduction states, “This book is a blueprint-a road map for deliverance. It deals with the ‘nuts and bolts’ of deliverance ministry.” As such, it is a “manual of war” for those engaged in this vital, front-line, in-the-trenches ministry to the body of Christ. As the authors say, “The victory has been won. The foundation for deliverance has been accomplished in Christ. This book is intended to help point the way toward the realization of the complete fruit of deliverance in the life of every believer. Due to the wrathful nature of our adversary, Satan, we will not accomplish this without opposition. But through the forceful application of these principles, every deliverance minister may assist believers to lay hold of the kingdom of God. Thus, may we all experience God’s righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”

    • Word Made Plain

      $45.00

Preaching mediates the word of God into a cultural matrix. And no American preaching has done so more effectively and powerfully than African American preaching, claims noted homiletician James Harris. Known for its rhetorical strength, social-justice orientation, and dead-on connection to the community’s lived experience, black preaching is here analyzed and proposed as a model for all preaching.
Harris grounds black preaching in the self-understanding of the historic black church and its most prominent preachers, from Martin Luther King Jr. to Samuel Proctor. Harris also explores the hermeneutical and aesthetic dimensions of preaching, especially at the intersection of sacred text and the broader culture. He then lays out the specific distinguishing characteristics of black preaching, including verbal cadence and rhythm, use of gestures, and, most thoroughly, the narrative model of the sermon. His last chapter, “Preaching Plainly,” provides specific instructions on how to put the sermon together employing this model.

    • To Pause At The Threshold

      $17.95

“A threshold is a sacred thing,” goes the traditional saying of ancient wisdom. In some corners of the earth, in some traditional cultures, and in monastic life, this is still remembered. But in our fast-paced modern world, this wisdom is often lost on us.

It is important for us to remember the significance of the threshold. While it is certainly true that thresholds mark the end of one thing and the beginning of another, they also act as borders-the places in between, the points of transition. These can be physical, such as the geographical borders of a country; others, such as the spiritual border between the inner and outer world-between ourselves and others-are intangible.

In To Pause at the Threshold, Esther de Waal looks at what it is like to live in actual “border country,” the Welsh countryside with its “slower rhythms” and “earth-linked textures,” and explores the importance of opening up and being receptive to one’s surroundings, whatever they may be.

    • 12 Steps With Jesus (Reprinted)

      $18.82

Don Williams powerfully relates in 12 Steps with Jesus that by allowing Jesus to fill the emptiness that leads to addictive behavior, readers can leave addiction in the dust! Churches must lead people to dependence on Jesus. When we give ourselves wholly to Christ, He will fill us wholly, replacing the hollowness that results in addictions. In twelve practical steps, Williams reveals how to achieve spiritual fulfillment in Christ, discover freedom from addiction, and embrace the abundant life that God promises to all of His followers.

    • Breaking Free From The Pack

      $18.73

Excellence is defined as the state of going beyond what is average, normal, or expected. It draws from a Greek word, which means to “throw beyond,” as with a javelin or shot put. We serve an excellent God, and He calls for all who follow Him to show forth that same Spirit of Excellence. This book shows, in a practical way, how to attain the walk of excellence. It stresses four principles that require us to seek God-Vision (both personal and ministry), Calling, Perseverance, and Love-as well as how and why to walk in four disciplines-Fasting, Prayer, Meditation, and Solitude with God. The walk of excellence is not required for us to be saved, but if we want our lives to count for something, then it is vital that we enter the realm of the excellent.

    • Only Jesus Of Nazareth Can Be Isreals King Messiah

      $19.98

Only Jesus of Nazareth Can Be Israel’s King Messiah, the third in the King Messiah Series, proves beyond doubt according to biblical prophecy that only Jesus of Nazareth can be Israel’s King Messiah. Using his skills as a retired federal investigator, plus spending thousands of hours studying the Bible and debating, John McTernan uses Daniel 9, the Davidic covenant, and the genealogy of the kings of Judah to form an airtight case proving only the Lord Jesus is Israel’s King Messiah. The author provides a unique way to look at Daniel 9 to pinpoint the exact time of King Messiah’s first coming. He shows that the Davidic covenant reveals that King Messiah has to be the Son of God. And finally, he shows that the genealogy of the kings of Judah possesses overwhelming evidence that only Jesus of Nazareth by His virgin birth can be the Messiah. This book is a great witnessing tool.

Tumbling Grounds touches deeply on the joy and grief inherent in the drama of human existence. It is a collection that will make your mind soar and your heart sing, and subsequently bring tears of joy to your eyes. This is poetry at its best: a rich literary diet for the soul, the spirit, and the body. Take a bite-it will be worth it. “I have been both fortunate and privileged to have edited this work. Dr. Aku’s imagery is extraordinary, and his subject matter ranges from a simple leaf, floating downward towards the ground, to the maelstrom of emotional conflict. “It has been most gratifying. I wish to thank Dr. Aku for the opportunity to have gotten a glimpse into his vision of the world, of life, of love, and of morality. His expressions have, at different times, left me breathless, smiling, or laughing out loud. This truly is an outstanding collection of poetry.” -Mario Lew
