Early Christian Families In Context Print On Demand Title
$41.99A Print on Demand Title
Typical studies of marriage and family in the early Christian period focus on very limited evidence found in Scripture. This interdisciplinary book offers a broader, richer picture of the first Christian families by drawing together research by experts ranging from archaeologists to ancient historians.
By exploring the nature of households in the ancient Greco-Roman world, the contributors assemble a new understanding of ancient Christian families that is both compelling and instructive. Divided into six parts, the book covers key aspects of ancient family life, from meals and child-rearing to women’s roles and the lives of slaves. Three concluding chapters explore the implications of all this information for theological education today.

Tabernacle Of David
$17.49The Tabernacle of David is a topic that has stirred much interest in recent years. How could such an obscure subject suddenly come to center stage? In this exposition, the author will show clearly how this veil-less tent upon Mount Zion reveals the higher dimension of worship that our God seeks (John 4:24). David’s Tabernacle not only reveals the higher worship of Mount Zion, but it also reveals the New Covenant standard. This veil-less tent housed the Ark of the Covenant. The veiled Ark speaks of the Old Covenant, whereas the unveiled Ark speaks of the New Covenant. David had entered (figuratively) into a dimension that the church is just rediscovering: the reality of the rent veil, the reality of the manifest presence of God, and the qualifications that will allow us to ascent the “Holy Hill.” This commentary will challenge you to be a true worshipper!

Hunger For The Holy
$14.99(When placing your order, please mention that this is a Lightining Source book.)
Using the imagery of the Book of Psalms as a backdrop, author Calvin Miller explores our hunger for intimacy with our holy God. Insisting that the pathway to God’s holiness is through a journey into our own selves. Miller yet maintains that our end is not to know ourselves but to know Christ. Our hunger for the hold leads us to a table for two in a quiet wilderness. Here, Miller says, we meet as “ardent lovers in the lonely desert of the human heart. There, he speaks as much as we do, and even when both of us say nothing, we are rapt in a welded oneness.”
In Miller’s inimitable style, he graciously invites up to satisfy our hunger for the holiness of God as we meditate on the psalms and are challenged to know the God of the universe in a personal, intimate relationshipAdd to cartin stock within 3-5 days of online purchase

Waldensian Way To God
$35.99The story of the Waldensians’ faith and commitment begins in the late twelfth century when the followers of Peter Waldo chose to ignore the Church’s decree against preaching without authority. Condemned for heresy, they left the city of Lyon and wandered the European countryside. Ruthlessly suppressed by the Inquisition and medieval crusades, their clandestine movement was reduced to a few enclaves by the time Protestant reformers from Switzerland arrived at their foremost settlements in the Cottian Alps between France and Italy. The basic compatibility between the pre-Reformation beliefs of the Waldensians and the ideas of the Swiss reformers eventually led to their adoption of the Calvinist form of Reformed Protestantism. However, by affirming their new faith, they became a conspicuous target for the forces of the Counter Reformation. Torture, imprisonment, exile, and martyrdom all became part of the heritage of the small but vibrant Waldensian Reformed Church that arose in the 1500s. The survival of the Waldensians down to the present, despite the numerous attempts to destroy their traditions and beliefs, is testimony that all things are possible through faith.

Boo : A Novel
$18.99Talk about Working out Your Faith with Fear and Trembling.
The biggest thing to happen to Skary, Indiana, is renowned horror novelist Wolfe Boone-or, “Boo,” as the locals fondly call him. For the past sixteen years, the reclusive writer has been the town’s greatest attraction, having unintentionally turned the once-struggling Skary into a thriving tourist-trap for the dark side: from the Haunted Mansion restaurant, famous for its “bloody fingers” (fries splattered with ketchup) to Spooky’s Bookstore (where employees dress like the walking dead).
But when a newly reformed Wolfe suddenly quits the genre and subsequently starts to pursue Skary’s favorite girl-next-door, Ainsley Parker, the little town made famous by his writings becomes truly horrified. Soon, a scheme is plotted to put the fright back into Skary-and get their most famous resident out of love and back into the thrill business.
Filled with humor, small town charm, and a gentle message of enduring faith, Boo shows how even the most colorful group of busybodies and hypocrites can become a community changed forever by God.

Science And Faith
$32.00Many believers worry that science undermines the Christian faith. Instead of fearing scientific discovery, Jack Collins believes that Christians should delight in the natural world and study it. God’s truth will stand against and challenge and will enrich the very scientific studies that we fear. Collins first defines faith and science, shows their relation, and explains what claims each has concerning truth. Then he applies the biblical teaching on creation to the topics of “conflict” between faith and science, including the age of the earth, evolution, and miracles. He considers what it means to live in a created world. This book is for anyone looking for a Christian engagement with science without technical jargon.

$19.95The Jewish community has lost some of the most sensitive spiritual souls of this generation. They are Jews who were looking for God and found spiritual homes outside of Judaism. Their journeys traversed the Jewish community, but nothing there beckoned them. The creation of synagogue-communities in which the voices of seekers can be heard and their questions can be asked will challenge many loyalist Jews. It will upset and enrage them. But it would also enrich them.
-from Chapter 18
In this fresh look at the spiritual possibilities of American Jewish life, Rabbi Sidney Schwarz presents the framework for a new synagogue model-the synagogue community-and its promise to transform our understanding of the synagogue and its potential for modern Judaism.
Schwarz profiles four innovative synagogues-one from each of the major movements of Judaism-that have had extraordinary success with their approach to congregational life and presents practical ways to replicate their success.
Includes a discussion guide for study groups and book clubs as well as a new afterword by the author describing developments in synagogue change projects since the book was first published.Add to cartin stock within 3-5 days of online purchase
