    • Holy Spirit In The Third Millennium

      $16.99

This work deals with issues surrounding the manifestation of the Spirit in prayer from theological and practical points of view. The treatment is orthodox, yet it is charismatic in tone and practical in presentation. It is a culmination of thirty years of study and experience received from conducting seminars spanning denominational lines. It has broad appeal to charismatic, Pentecostal, and parachurch groups, yet it has reached into evangelical, mainline, Catholic Pentecostal, and ecumenical groups because of its reasoned theological and biblical content. This book deals with theological issues and answers questions that some have been afraid to ask. The author presents a thorough analysis of the Spirit’s manifestation with personal examples. The subject of the Holy Spirit is presented in a fresh manner that the modern churchman can receive. For some it may seem too practical, but it has proved itself to be the correct approach, as thousands have received the Holy Spirit and His presence has been manifested in our meetings. People have come to Christ and been healed by this message. Simply put, it works.

    • Father Jesus Christ And Holy Spirit

      $13.49

I give God the glory for what He has inspired in me. Without Him, I could not have done this. One day I decided to do a study on the names and attributes of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. I started off doing this for my personal use. As I searched for the names and attributes, more began to be revealed. I was in awe as I saw what the Holy Spirit brought through my study. When I was finished, I realized I had enough to have a book published. The Holy Spirit would often wake me up in the middle of the night to give me the names of God. I believe God has a plan for many to read this book and to search for the names of God as I have with great joy. Most of the information I searched for came from the King James Bible, Nathan Stone, outlines from Marilyn Hickey, teachings from Benny Hinn, the Amplified Bible, the American Standard Bible, and the New International Version Bible. May God bless you as you read this book.

    • 7K : The Millennial Week

      $19.99

Is human history simply an open-ended continuum, or does it have some logic, some parameters, some underlying structure? 7K: The Millennial Week tackles this question using an ancient theological construct that is subjected to a fresh and unique analysis. This book explores the 7,000-year theory of history using a three-dimensional system of “stacking” sets of Scripture that, in the layering process, reveal prophetic connections throughout the biblical text. The overall structure of history is seen to rest on the prophetic foundation of the first chapter of Genesis. With the Gregorian year 2000 now behind us, many seem ready to give the 7,000-year theory of history a hasty burial. This book demonstrates that the old theory has never been more viable. Christian thinking understandably focuses on the birth of Christ as History’s pivotal event. 7K: The Millennial Week refocuses on the death and resurrection of Christ, pointing instead at the Cross as the central event of history and projecting the millennial parameters from that event. This book offers a refreshing and challenging look at that possibility. Readers of 7K will take a scenic ride through history as viewed through the prophetic lens of Scripture. The complete trip takes seven millennial days. Trying this vacation from traditional and secular versions of history will surely give readers some fresh conceptions with which to assess the great plan God has for His image.

      $14.99

The Ministry Anointing of the Prophet-Minstrel is a Scripture-based study on the office of Prophet coupled with a musical gifting. The author’s experience and study of Scripture will release the anointing that God has ordained for this office, which takes the Body of Christ into a deeper relationship and into the presence of God through worship. When God places the ministries of Prophet and Minstrel into one person, an explosive anointing can be released when properly cultivated. When this anointing is stirred or shaken, as with nitroglycerine, it will explode. Some tasks in the realm of the Spirit are difficult to exercise, but when the Prophet-Minstrel is released to flow, he or she can accomplish with great ease and spiritual ability what may seem difficult for others. Prophet-Minstrels have an anointing to speak words of release and deliverance over the people of God. In addition, they have the authority to activate your ministry destiny and declare victory for the saints. And also as important, the Prophet-Minstrels possess weapons that will cause great damage and defeat to the kingdom of darkness.

    • Critical History Of Philosophy 2

      $37.99

We will not hesitate to say that this is one of the most important books ever given to man. At age 83, it was no accidental production, but a profound masterpiece produced over fifty years of the most intense reflection and thirty years of teaching on the subject as president of colleges and as professor of mental philosophy whil displaying the deepest virtue and usefulness. Before Critical History, all such histories were the gloomy revelation of the contradictory errors of men, and the natural result was pessimistic skepticism. But our author has rather sanctified the science–gleaning the truth from all who discovered it. At the same time, he more than just exposed the mistakes and sins of all contrary systems, but also gave us the reasons for departure and the fully justified–and undeniable–reality that fills in the void. This original analysis not only solves the great world problems but also gives hope to the student where all other histories have left us in contradictory despair.

      $16.99

To the sporadic or non-reader of the Bible, Bible Treasures’ manuals provide an introductory approach to finding the Bible’s treasures and clarify the process of understanding the Foundation for Christian Living. A Dictionary of Faith is set forth in the “Information Guide” section. Students’ questions shaped the construction of the Course. From those requests, the Foundation for Christian Living emerged, covering faith issues with which we struggle as we grow into spiritual maturity, such as love, forgiveness, prayer, problem solving, inner peace, and fellowship with God. The Teacher’s Manual is a quickly grasped layout with the class schedule on the left-hand page and a copy of the Student’s Manual on the right-hand page. The two manuals have the same page numbers. To meet students’ expectations, the Teacher’s Manual sets forth a fast-moving agenda over a nine-week period-one 1A 1/2-hour session each week! The Course requires that students invest thirty minutes with God each day as outlined by the assignments. The assignments will provide insights for those who are faithful. Finally, the power of this course rests in the chosen biblical passages. The “Foundation” of the life of faith emerges.

      $17.49

In 1831, the year following the French Revolution, many in Germany began pushing for revolution in Germany. Joseph Arnst Garrett had served under Napoleon when he was young, and he had witnessed the horrors of war. He also understood the political-ethnic-cultural makeup in the Fatherland and the fact that Germany had known warfare off and on for centuries, one war lasting for thirty years. He feared for his wife, two sons, and eight daughters, and he determined to take his family to America. But, would Metternich, the present ruler, or the young revolutionaries permit him to go and take his wealth? He owned three thriving businesses as well as his family estate. Johann Joseph Arnst Garrett, as the oldest son, has a hard decision to make: go to America with his family, join the young revolutionaries, or join Metternich’s army. Hendrick Bhonn Haar, a 21-year-old orphan, is a friend of Johann’s and works alongside of Johann in the Garrett family business. He is a Christian in the Brethren sect, which is hated by Catholic and Reformation Protestants alike. And he has fallen in love with Victoria, one of the Garrett daughters. What can come of this? Will he too go to America?

      $15.49

The author, Dr. Dennis Davis, builds the thesis of this book on the premise that there are irrefutable, undeniable laws, both moral and physical, that govern the universe. He contends that these God-establiched laws cannot be broken. They can be denied, but not broken, as the law will always remain intact. He also contends that God has established “laws” that guide the growth, success, and future of the Church, and that when one operates within the framework of these laws (principles), there will be a natural consequence of both numerical and spiritual growth.

What will heaven be like? It is hard to say in any detail. It will be more glorious than we can imagine. No previous experiences will do it justice. Still, some of our experiences seem to anticipate heaven in one connection or another. I call these whispers of heaven. They often occur when one least expects them. One should cherish them as if precious jewels. C. S. Lewis observes that God more often employs a carrot than a club. This book serves as a prime case in point. They invite us to take up the journey to the celestial city. Then, when the way becomes difficult, they encourage us to press on. When finally the time draws near, they incite us to finish confidently.

    • Pick A God Any God

      $16.99

It is peculiar we Americans take the notion of God so lightly. And many who do have a real interest are shedding the skin of traditional Christianity, hoping to reinvest in a more tolerant “higher power.” But the religious world is littered with contradictions, absurdities, and mediocrity, and a lifetime of God-swapping has left a lot of hearts full of emptiness. Pick a God, any God encourages the reader to bear in mind that: No religion can be wholly understood by following its followers. The “all ideas about God are right” approach is not only implausible, it’s impossible. The truth can sometimes feel “foreign” because it is not manmade. If half of the world’s population denies the existence of God, that doesnt make Him go away. Just the same, no amount of wishing will make Him real. We tend to dilute the majesty of God in our quest to fully understand Him. Because we treat our opinions as though they replace truth, our inquiry into real truth becomes sedated. We must refuse to be ignorant. If we choose to customize God, He will become whatever we decide. We have then become His creator. He will house our limitations, our inconsistencies, and our mortality. Our God will be us. So, just about the time we may need him the most, he’ll be dead. www.pickagod.com

      $14.99

A recent survey indicated that 90% of Christians questioned, struggle with lust. What really is lust? Is all sexual desire, attraction, and arousal sinful? What about about masturbation and sexual fantasy? In Is it Lust or Legalism? Discerning the Differences between Sexuality, Sensuality & Sin, Pastor Brad Watson looks again at these pertinent questions from a fresh perspective. Sexuality and sensuality are not intrinsically evil, and should be integrated together with a highlycommitted, Christ-centered faith. This breakthrough book exposes the poor anti-body, anti-sex, antipleasure theology that has historically steeped the Church in legalism, separated her unnecessarily from culture, and hindered her from impacting the world. God’s people are challenged to embrace an “incarnational Christianity”-filled with grace and freed from legalism-which beckons normal, culturally-relevant, 21st century people into a world-impacting, radical witness for Christ.

Written within the context of the rich, varied history of the establishment of Denver, Colorado as a major city, this book explores the founding of ungodly and demonic structures that have and are influencing the city. The former “Queen City of the Plains” has a dark side that most historians don’t examine. Mr. Chapman expounds his ideas about how these forces have made the modern “Mile High City” what it is today in business, government, and especially in church behavior. Although this book is not an exhaustive history of the city, it is written with the seasoned intercessor or spiritual warfare veteran in mind. Look through the information in these pages and you will see some amazing connections and revelations regarding the reasons that Denver is the way it is, from street layout to the “Spirit of Denver.”

    • Did God Really Say That

      $17.99

Did God Really Say That? Satan’s actual words (
      as recorded in Genesis 3:1)
were “Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not…?” Our enemy, Satan, “more subtle
than any beast of the field” is a clever deceiver!
The author recognizes that God’s Word has not changed from the beginning.
Satan continues his deceptions. His great tool of our age is the lie of evolution.
This book challenges that lie, and explains to readers that the foundations of
the Christian faith, beginning with the creation, still stand. The author writes
in an enjoyable style and includes Scripture passages within the text to
effectively explain how one’s belief regarding origins affects our daily
      lives six thousand years later.
This book is written for all Christians, and for Jews who want to learn how
science fits with the fact that God created everything from nothing in six days,
as God inspired Moses to record. Christians and Jews worship the same
Creator God, and the Jews are part of God’s master plan. Our Jewish friends
might be interested in why Christians accept Jesus Christ as the Messiah.

    • Harvesting Spiritual Fruit

      $21.99

Millions of Americans have turned to books on prayer in hopes of attaining God’s favor and wonderful blessings. In Harvesting Spiritual Fruit – Following God’s Path to True Love, Joy and Peace, Jonathan Niemeyer now takes us beyond prayer to Christian living through a practical application of Galatians 5:22, the fruit of the spirit. Mr. Niemeyer contends that God, although He obviously invites us and even instructs us to come before Him in prayer, is also keenly interested in how we live our lives when not praying as well. He maintains that a simple verse of Paul’s letter to the Galatians holds phenomenal promise for those of us who truly employ the fruit of the spirit — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control — in our relationships with God, our spouses, our children, our friends and our neighbors. Faithfully applying the fruit of the spirit to our lives is much easier said than done, but the rewards – pure love, joy and peace — can be everlasting!

    • 1 Bread One Body

      $29.00

As a troubadour for global music and an instigator of cross-cultural worship for more than 15 years in a variety of denominational settings, including congregational, national, and international venues, Michael Hawn has observed many faithful people who find that a taste of Pentecost in worship is refreshing and invigorating. In One Bread, One Body: Exploring Cultural Diversity in Worship, Hawn seeks to help bridge the gap between the human tendency to prefer ethnic and cultural homogeneity in worship and the church’s mandate to offer a more diverse and inclusive experience. He offers a rainbow vision of the universal church where young and old joyfully and thoughtfully respond to the movement of God’s Spirit in multicultural worship.

Hawn and four colleagues from Perkins School of Theology in Dallas formed a diverse team in ethnicity, gender, academic field of study, and denominational affiliation to study four United Methodist congregations in the Dallas area that are grappling with cross-cultural ministry. Their four case studies illustrate both the pain and the possibilities encountered in capturing the Spirit of Pentecost in worship. Hawn also offers a concise and practical theological framework as well as numerous strategies and an extensive bibliography for implementing “culturally conscious worship.” This book is invaluable for congregations that want to undertake the hard work of cross-cultural worship. Foreword by Justo Gonzalez.

    • Projects That Matter

      $26.00

Projects That Matter is a primer for project leaders and teams about basic project planning and evaluation. Intended for the nonexpert, the book introduces readers to the five basic elements of project design and describes in detail a six-step process for designing and implementing a project evaluation and for disseminating evaluation findings. Project leaders in congregations, colleges and seminaries, camps and other specialized ministries, and other religious settings will find Cahalan’s guidance clear and invaluable.

Cahalan presents evaluation as a form of collaborative inquiry and shows how leaders can use evaluation design to develop effective project plans and prepare case statements for donors or grant proposals for foundations. She introduces project planning and evaluation as mission-related practices and invites leaders to consider how their tradition’s particular mission and beliefs influence the way they plan and evaluate. In the final chapter, she makes explicit her own theological presuppositions-that the virtues of discernment, stewardship, and prudence are essential for good project planning and evaluation. Foreword by Craig Dykstra.

    • Find A Niche And Scratch It

      $26.00

Jesus was uniquely adept in the art of “reading” people. He fit his approach to the precise needs and interests of the person with whom he was dealing, and he spoke the cultural language of that individual. In this book, Robert Perry takes what Jesus and others have done intuitively-niche marketing-and provides a framework for applying those principles in everyday practice.

Convinced that congregations can learn from the wisdom of secular disciplines and apply that wisdom to congregational life without damaging the integrity of the Christian faith, Perry offers a detailed process for using sound marketing principles to identify a congregation’s strengths and the needs of its community, and to develop strategies for effective ministry.

Perry’s plan: to create a common vocabulary that will bridge the communication gap between the disciplines of business marketing and congregational outreach strategizing. The key: to keep in mind the reason we are working to reach people-not to make money for shareholders, but to share the Good News that God loves us. The goal: to foster genuinely healthy, growing congregations! Foreword by Robert D. Dale.

    • Psalms Volume 2 Print On Demand Title

      $48.99

In this monumental work, his most ambitious undertaking, the late Samuel Terrien brings together a lifetime of scholarship on Psalms, long the wellspring of Jewish spirituality as well as the main hymnal of the Christian church.

The book’s insightful and clearly written introduction treats such subjects as the longevity and ecumenicity of the psalms, their Near Eastern background, the Hebrew text and ancient versions, their music, their strophic structure, their literary genre, their theology, and their relation to the New Testament. In the commentary itself Terrien freshly elucidates the theological significance of these collected poems by putting readers in touch with the formal versatility and religious passion of the psalmists themselves. While Terrien always engages in scientific exegesis before drawing theological conclusions, he is careful to allow full expression to the theological – and, especially, the doxological – voice of these unmatched spiritual songs. The result is a commentary that provides a link between the archaic language of Psalms and the intellectual demands of modern thinking and spirituality.

Throughout his exposition Terrien shows great respect for the scribal testimony of the Jewish tradition, especially the consonants of the Masoretic text. He likewise displays great care in finding the most accurate meaning for Hebrew words of obscure origin. This meticulous work renders a translation of Psalms more reliable than those of Terrien’s predecessors. He also draws on many fruitful gains of structural analysis in discerning the strophic divisions within the Hebrew text. Often he finds unity of composition where earlier critics denied it. And for readers interested in specific aspects of translation and interpretation, Terrien has appended bibliographical lists of modern works on each psalm.

    • Reconciliation : Restoring Justice

      $34.00

Whether born in the Mideast, Africa, Asia, or brought home to the streets of America, violent hatreds often threaten to swamp the minimal cooperation needed to foster life and health. Does Christianity have anything besides warmed-over pieties to offer a world torn by estrangement, alienation, and violently opposed worldviews? In this signal contribution to public theology, John de Gruchy, an internationally esteemed political theologian, emphatically affirms the possibility and necessity of reconciliation. For Christians, he says, reconciliation is the center and perennial test of their faith. De Gruchy expands reconciliation’s relevance beyond personal piety and ecclesial harmony to encompass group relations, politics, and even the environment. In all cases, he argues, it involves the restoration of justice. Forged in the recent experience of South Africa, his work delineates the political and ecclesial significance of reconciliation and shows its importance for interreligious relations, addressing victimization, and international peace. Reconciliation will be welcomed by all whose faith leads them to help alleviate the world’s mounting agonies.

Here is a superb example of the new way of doing theology. C. S. Scripture, tears, prophetic insight, social analysis, politics, hope — all of them are incorporated in this deceptively small package. –

    • Writing : A Way To Pray

      $15.95

In Writing — A Way to Pray Arnold Cheyney offers a practical method of writing as an act of prayer. He shows how to pray with more meaning, thought, and imagination by writing with Scripture as our focus. This method differs from other kinds of prayer forms because it allows one to organize thoughts and highlight ideas that would otherwise remain unexplored. The concept of praying through writing, based on the Ignatian tradition of exploring images to bring God into personal focus, involves reading Scripture, writing Scripture, and praying Scripture concurrently.

By writing reflections on Scripture, a connection is formed between God’s word and its relevance to our lives. We are better able to understand Jesus’ thoughts, comprehend the meaning of Scripture, and focus on the message of God. Cheyney offers several ways to apply writing to prayer for example, writing stories, letters, poems, or scripts. A section at the end of the book contains practical applications of the methods discussed in the text.

    • Light Of The Mind

      $14.95

St. Augustine is not only the bridge that links ancient philosophy and early Christian theology with the thought of the Middle Ages, but one who, in his philosophy and especially in his epistemology, anticipated some of the most important ideas of Descartes and Malbranche, Berkeley and Kant. In this study of the central aspect of St. Augustine’s thought, the author analyzes the various facets of his theory of knowledge and offers a new interpretation of his idea of divine illumination.

St. Augustine’s views on skepticism and truth, on faith and reason, and on sense perception and cogitation are first examined in order to show their relation to this theory of divine illumination as the ultimate source of truth for man. The proper understanding of the theory of illumination, of how man apprehends the divine ideas, is the most difficult problem in St. Augustine’s epistemology, for he did not formulate any systematic theory of knowledge. Any account of the Augustinian epistemology, Mr. Nash believes, must resolve three paradoxes: how the intellect is both passive and active; how the forms are distinct from – and not distinct from – the human mind; and how man’s mind is and is not the light that makes knowledge possible.

In explaining the nature of divine illumination, Nash discusses four interpretations that have been advanced; the Thomist (which he rejects as not faithful to St. Augustine’s general philosophy), the Franciscan, the Formalist, and the Ontologist. He argues here for a modified Ontologist view. In his synthesis of Christian theology and Neoplatonic philosophy, St. Augustine held that all creation partakes of truth in varying degrees, that man as the highest part of creation, created in God’s image and thus sharing to some degree the divine nature, is able to know truth through the divine light and the light of his own mind. In attempting to find an answer to the perennial problem of knowledge, St. Augustine, Nash suggests, was struggling to find a theory that would combine the benefits of conceptualism and realism, and his answer was more modern than many have given him credit for.

    • Gregory Of Nazianzus

      $16.00

This study on the life and thought of St. Gregory of Nazianzus was written by feminist theologian and Patristic scholar, Rosemary Radford Ruether, as her doctoral dissertation and originally published by Oxford University Press in 1969. The focus of the study is the tension and conflict in the life of Gregory of Nazianzus and his contemporary Christian companions, such as Basil the Great and Gregory Nyssa, between rhetoric and philosophy.

This is a conflict that has deep roots in Greek culture, going back to the time of Isocrates and Plato. It reflects two major streams of Greek culture, the literary tradition of classical education and public argumentation, with its often specious use of language, and the philosophical search for truth which saw itself as culminating in spiritual communion with the Good, the True and the Beautiful. In the Christian context of the fourth century A.D. this conflict had been translated into a tension between classical literary education, which still shaped the socialization of Christian leaders such as Gregory and informed the patterns of their preaching, and their search for contemplative union with God. Gregory and others spoke of the ascetic life of emerging Christian monasticism as “the philosophical life,” thus incorporating this tension between rhetoric and philosophy into their own lives.

For Gregory and other Christian leader of his time, Christians should renounce worldly ambition and even Christian positions of power, such as episcopacy, to pursue the separated life of monastic discipline, yet even in this ascetic retirement they found it difficult not to continue to employ the much-loved literary culture of their youthful education. This book shows how this tension played out in Gregory’s own life, including his relation with his friend and school companion, Basil the Great, who shared the quest for the monastic life with Gregory, but later became a bishop and sought to secure his power against church rivals by forcing episcopacy upon both Gregory Nazianzus and his own brother, Gregory Nyssa.

The volume also studies the way in which Gregory of Nazianzus employs rhetorical conventions to shape his own literary style in his sermons and treatises. It then focuses on the anthropology and cosmology that underlay Gregory’s understanding of the “philosophical life” as a journey of communion with God. In the final chapter it reviews Gregory’s own struggles to find a modus vivendi between the two cultures of clas

    • Use Of The Bible In Christian Ethics

      $40.00

In this book, Thomas Ogletree seeks to establish common ground between biblical understandings and contemporary ethical inquiry. Drawing upon phenomenological investigations, he criticizes and modifies some of the most prominent conceptions of ethics, and moves toward a more coherent and comprehensive ethical theory. Guided by this theory, he critically engages selected biblical treatments of the moral life, placing special emphasis on biblical accounts of eschatology in its import for the ordered life of emerging Christian communities.
