95 Prostheses
$52.00Add to cartFive hundred years after Luther’s famous posting of his 95 Theses in 1517, the church again faces an important crossroads. Sunday worship attendance is shrinking at alarming rates. There are now more “”Elvis believers”” in the US than Episcopalians and almost limitless spiritual options exist for those who seek faith and trust in something, but are hesitant to commit to a particular path leading to truth. The word prosthesis, normally associated with surgery, is also an apt word to describe the church’s need to forge a theological identity that fits our current context. The church faces change and a transformed body, but not at the expense of the biblical richness and tradition that fueled the restlessness of the reformers. The essays gathered here, arranged around the seasons of the church year, address familiar challenges faced by all pastors and leaders in an era of transition, specifically in Christian formation and discipleship. Appropriate for group and personal reflection, 95 Prostheses employs humor and biblical accessibility with the skeptical outsider who may be considering Jesus and his church for the first time in mind.

Unveiling Pauls Women
$38.00Add to cartWhether people realize it or not, the ideas in 1 Corinthians 11:2-16 have had a huge impact on the role of Christian women in the church through the centuries. These fifteen verses have shaped worship practices, church structures, church leadership, marriages, and even relationships between men and women in general. They have contributed to practices that have consistently placed women in a subordinate role to men, and have been used to justify the idea that a woman should not occupy a leadership or teaching position without being under the authority or “”covering”” of a man. It is strange, therefore, that academics and pastors alike continue to note how confusing and difficult it continues to be to make sense of these very verses. In this little book, Lucy Peppiatt not only highlights the problems associated with using this text to justify the subordination of women, but offers a clear and plausible re-reading of the text that paints the apostle Paul as a radical, visionary, church planter who championed women in all forms of leadership.

Apprentice : A Year At The Feet Of Jesus
$14.99Add to cartIf someone asked you to share with them what you believe about Jesus, could you do so with clarity and effectiveness? Jesus gave the church the command to go into all the world and make disciples. The word disciple speaks about becoming a follower of Jesus.
Here is what I have discovered; it is impossible to direct someone to a place you have never been.
This very discovery is the reason I have written this book. It is my desire to not just know about Jesus but to truly know Jesus, so that I can direct others to Him. In this year-long devotional book, you will have the honor of sitting at Jesus’ feet, along with the 12 disciples who have become apprentices of Jesus.
You will hear Jesus call to these men in His first days of ministry. You will walk with these men on the Galilean road of ministry. You will experience firsthand the teaching of Jesus and you will see the miracles performed by Jesus. You will feel the thrill of each new day at Jesus’ feet. You will do battle with the forces of the enemy as you follow Jesus through His earthly ministry. You will enter into the courtyard of the high priest and see Jesus in His agony. You will weep at the cross and shout at the empty tomb.
Above all, you will come to the end of the year with a new viewpoint of Jesus. If you want a devotional book that will lead you to know Jesus as did the early church, this book is for you.

When Is It Right To Die
$18.99Add to cartMore and more people who are terminally ill are choosing assisted suicide. When is it Right to Die? offers a different path with alternatives of hope, compassion, and death with real dignity. Joni Eareckson Tada knows what it means to wrestle with this issue and to wish for a painless solution. For the last 50 years she has been confined to a wheelchair and struggled against her own paralysis. And she sat by the bedside of her dying father, thinking, So much suffering, why not end it all quickly, painlessly?
The terminally ill, the elderly, the disabled, the depressed and suicidal, can all be swept up into this movement of self-deliverance. Skip the suffering. Put a quick end to merciless pain and mental anguish. These are tempting enticements to the hurting. Joni doesn’t give pat answers. Instead, she gives warm comfort from God and practical help to meet the realities for those facing death.
When Is It Right to Die tells the stories of families who have wrestled with end-of-life questions and found that death with dignity does not necessarily mean three grams of Phenobarbital in the veins. Behind every right-to-die situation is a family. A family like yours. In her warm, personal way, Joni takes the reader into the lives of families and lets them speak about assisted suicide. What they say is surprising.
Whether you have a dying family member, facing moral and medical choices, or struggling with a chronic condition that feels overwhelming, this book will help you find practical encouragement and biblical advice to help you make difficult decisions.
This book is revised and updated to examine the current events, trending issues, and the rising acceptance of assisted suicide in this country.

Upside Down Kingdom (Anniversary)
$31.99Add to cartSharing, not hoarding. Service, not status. Community, not competition. Basins, not swords. Loyalty to God, not nation.
Jesus turned everything upside down. When we follow him, we can too. This book calls readers to imagine and embody the reign of God on earth as it is in heaven. Since its publication in 1978, the Upside-Down Kingdom has become the most trusted resource on radical Christian discipleship. In this completely updated anniversary edition, author Donald R. Kraybill asks: What does it mean to follow the Christ who traded victory and power for hanging out with the poor and forgiving his enemies? How did a man in first-century Palestine threaten the established order, and what does that mean for us today? What would happen if Christians replaced force with service, violence with love, and nationalism with allegiance to Jesus?
Jesus turned expectations upside-down. The kingdom of God is still full of surprises. Are you ready?

2 Seeds : Deepest Truths To Rule The World
$22.99Add to cartGOOD GUYS AND BAD GUYS REVEALED! RETHINK AND REPENT, FOR THE TRUE KINGDOM OF GOD HAS COME!! THE CURRENT GLOBAL WARMING IS A GLOBAL WARNING INDEED!!!
THE TWO SEEDS book takes the Multifaceted Law of Double Reference (the major tool to decode all Scriptures) into another facet with the revelation of the GOOD GUYS and BAD GUYS. Understanding this Law that guides the Law of Faith is what promotes us from Babes Christians to Mature Christians (Heb. 5:13-14, Matt. 13:52). Know for sure that a Babe (a Christian who lives in the flesh) cannot please the Lord (Rom. 8:5-8, 1Cor. 3:1-4) nor reign in life (Gal. 4:1-2). Only the Mature Christian can please the Lord (Heb. 11:6) because he is a possessor of the true Faith. Most things in life have two sides, for example, Head and Tail, Right and Left, Male and Female, Light and Darkness, White and Black, New and Old, Good and Bad, Up and Down, Joy and Sorrow, Positive and Negative, 1st Leg or Coming and 2nd Leg or Coming, Beginning and End etc to make up the TWO WITNESSES of things (see Duet. 19:15, Matt. 18:16, 2Cor. 13:1, Luke 10:1, Eccles. 4:9). One prophet may speak of the Tail or Left or New while the other or even the same prophet speaks differently on the Head or Right or Old e.g. earth is forever (Ps. 104:5, Is. 60:21) and earth is NOT forever (Matt. 24:35, Ps. 102:25-26, Is. 51:6, 2Pet. 3:10) yet no prophet is wrong. Hence, no one should DISAGREE or speak against any Bible prophet just because what you want to hear is different from what you need to hear from the prophet of God. All prophets are like brothers pointing to one Father or like road-signs pointing to one Destination – which is JESUS. Humanity must not be divided on prophets (see 1Cor. 3:4-6) as in many religions with the many denominations. Humanity must be UNITED (Eph. 1:10) on JESUS – the Unification of all things for Global – Peace. Looking unto Jesus (Heb. 12:2) – the Pointed and not unto any prophet or any man – the Pointer. See 2Pet. 1:20.
What a man knows is under his control but what he doesn’t know is above him and will control him. The same heat that softens and refines the Gold (BELIEVER) is the same heat that hardens and destroys the Clay (UNBELIEVER). Strive to enter into the true kingdom of God because most people are only interested in their own kingdoms (Luke 13:24-30, Phil. 2:20-21). Refuse to be limited by their limitations. Get out of the prophesied Second Babylonian Captivity in (Rev. 18:2)! Get out of mind captivity!! Be u

When the daily business news breaks away from stories of profit and loss, it often shines a spotlight on ethical failures. But Christians aim to be ethical in all the areas of daily life and work-not just when the spotlight is on them. For those facing the many questions and quandaries of doing business with ethical integrity, Alec Hill offers a place to begin. In this third edition of a popular textbook on business ethics, Hill carefully explores the foundational Christian concepts of holiness, justice, and love. These keys to God’s character, he argues, are also the keys to Christian business ethics. Hill then shows how some common responses to business ethics fall short of a fully Christian mindset. Using penetrating case studies on such pressing topics as employer-employee relations, discrimination and affirmative action, and environmental damage, he clothes principles in concrete business situations.
Updated throughout, and with a new chapter on international business, this new edition of Just Business is an excellent introduction to business ethics for students, and a timely refresher for men and women already in the marketplace.

We know that our material comforts and temporal accomplishments are not enough to fully satisfy us. Momentary pleasures, whether of pure or darker motivations, are fleeting at best. But Christians often hear the idea that following Jesus means that we should be living a life of full satisfaction. How many of us actually experience that kind of life?Amy Simpson wants to debunk this satisfaction myth in the church. After forty years of walking with Jesus, she writes, “I am deeply unsatisfied not only with my ability to reflect Jesus, but also with the very quality of my intimacy with him. I strongly suspect that the abyss of my nature has not been entirely satisfied by Jesus.”
Hers is a freeing confession for us all. Simpson explains that our very unsatisfaction indicates a longing for God, and understanding those longings can bring us closer to relationship with him. And that is where true spiritual health and vitality reside. Read on to discover anew what it truly means to be satisfied in Christ.

Christian Hospitality And Muslim Immigration In An Age Of Fear
$34.99Add to cartAn alternative, uniquely Christian response to the growing global challenges of deep religious differenceIn the last fifty years, millions of Muslims have migrated to Europe and North America. Their arrival has ignited a series of fierce public debates on both sides of the Atlantic about religious freedom and tolerance, terrorism and security, gender and race, and much more. How can Christians best respond to this situation? In this book theologian and ethicist Matthew Kaemingk offers a thought-provoking Christian perspective on the growing debates over Muslim presence in the West. Rejecting both fearful national-ism and romantic multiculturalism, Kaemingk makes the case for a third way-a Christian pluralism that is committed to both the historic Christian faith and the public rights, dignity, and freedom of Islam.

Finding Selah : The Simple Practice Of Peace When You Need It Most
$16.99Add to cartThat something you’ve been looking for in the empty stress of your mad-dash days? It has a name.
The Psalms call it selah-the pause, rest, or interlude between the notes in a song. More than merely an empty space, selah is a chance to stop and resync with the story and song of God. For all the ways life keeps you running, this word and practice offers a way to re-center yourself on the One who holds all things together and makes all things beautiful.
Stretched beyond her capacity in caring for a large family in the middle of Manhattan, Kristen Kill was exhausted, depressed, and desperate for a change. Then something sparked within her when she read the Psalms, and found that often all that stood between the psalmist’s cries for help and celebrations of praise was this simple word, selah.
Join Kristen in Finding Selah for a journey that will transform the way you think about work, rest, and the little spaces in between that make all the difference. This book will show you how to tune your ear to the song God is singing over you, embrace the “selah moments” able to transform your daily rhythms, and most of all, encounter the ultimate Selah in Christ, who stands in the gap between heaven and your most hectic of days. There is hope for the dissonance you feel. Finding Selah will show you not only how to sing a new song, but to live a new way.

Until He Comes
$19.99Add to cartSpurgeon observed the Lord’s Supper every Sunday, unless illness prevented it. He often said that the more he obeyed Christ’s command, “This do in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19), the more precious his Savior and the more helpful and instructive the celebration became to him. He always intended to publish a collection of his reflections on the Lord’s Supper, some given in front of thousands at the Metropolitan Tabernacle and some in front of two or three gathered in his living room; and although they were not published before his death, they have become a treasured favorite among fans of Spurgeon. While centered on the Lord’s Supper, these twenty reflections range topically from comfort, to redemption, to Christ’s love.

Journey Into Silence
$15.99Add to cartJust You and the Lord, 24/7:
Most Christians have experienced various times of silence before God. We call it “getting ourselves in the mood for worship,” “moments of meditation,” or “having our morning quiet time.” We might even have “soaked” in God’s presence for an extended period. These are spiritually-enriching experiences, but is there a deeper value in silence than we have realized? What would it be like to spend extended time in an environment where you focused solely on God and His Word–just you and the Lord, 24/7, uninterrupted, with no other obligations and nothing to distract you from His loving presence? In Journey into Silence, drawn from his own real-time journal entries, Chaim Bentorah reveals the spiritual blessings of being alone with God as he describes his experiences in three different retreats of silence, each of which lasted a full week. Wrapped in an ever-deepening closeness with the Lord, the layers of his heart were peeled away, bringing healing and filling him with compassion for a world that needs to know the love of Jesus. With his years of research into Jewish literature and study of ancient languages, including Hebrew, Chaim Bentorah was able to dig deep into the very core of key words from Scripture passages that God called to his attention during his times of living in silence. These reflections on the deeper meanings of Hebrew words open the depths of God’s Word–drawing us, too, into an intimate relationship with God, and refreshing and challenging us in our spiritual walk. Journey into Silence demonstrates how our lives can be transformed as we enter into times of contemplation, wonder, and worship–and then return to daily life, carrying the compassionate heart of God to the hurting world around us. -

God Who Plays
$23.00Add to cartMany people would be surprised to hear that a playful attitude towards God and the world lies at the heart of Christian faith. Traditionally Christians have focused on the serious responsibilities of service, sacrifice, and commitment. But the prophets say that the future kingdom is full of people laughing and playing, which has implications for Christians who are called to live out the future kingdom in the present. Play is not trivial or secondary to work and service–only a playful way of living does justice to the seriousness of life! Play is the essential and ultimate form of relationship with God, which is why Jesus told people to learn from children. Indeed, a playful attitude is an important part of all significant relationships. This book explores grace, faith, love, worship, redemption, and the kingdom from the perspective of a playful attitude. It describes how to create a “”play ethic”” to match the “”work ethic”” and discusses play as a virtue, Aquinas’s warning against the sin of not playing enough, and Bonhoeffer’s claim that in a world of pain it is only the Christian who can truly play. “”In The God Who Plays, Brian Edgar presents a wonderful gift to God’s overly serious people . . . The chapter headings are inviting, the writing clear and even playful. Brian clearly had fun writing this book. And the imaginative invitations to play with God, concluding each chapter, are irresistible. Enjoy.

Conversations With God 3
$18.99Add to cartImagine if you could hear God speak. Imagine if you could sit down and speak to God about a wide range of subjects that are helpful to the Christian faith and have him respond to you.
Matthew Robert Payne did exactly that over a period of time. He sat down and asked God to open up about the subjects covered in his previous book, Jesus Speaking Today. What follows is a number of intimate conversations with God.
God shares his heart with Matthew in a way that is raw, honest, and candid. Peek inside the pages to see how God speaks to his friend who is interested in hearing from him. Listen in on these conversations as God gets personal and even emotional about the things that matter to him and that should ultimately matter to everyone.
Matthew hopes that this book will encourage you to learn to hear from God for yourself and inspire you to journal what God says to you each day.

Disconnected Man : Breaking Down Walls And Restoring Intimacy With Him
$20.00Add to cartTHE DISCONNECTED MAN tracks the journey of one man’s surprise discovery of his own disconnectedness and his desire to help other men, and the women who love them, before it is too late.
Disconnected men hide out in plain view: in our churches, in our families and in our communities. They are competent, capable men who quietly ‘do their duty’ and attract little attention. They are fairly happy guys, relatively unemotional and capable of carrying heavy loads of responsibility, but are very difficult to get to know beyond superficial friendship. A closer examination inside their marriages reveals a desert strewn with emotionally emaciated spouses. While their competence may build the church, organize a group, or run a company, they haven’t the slightest notion how to connect intimately with those they love. Their wives suffer, usually in silence, while the church and culture press past this couple secretly falling apart.
Jim Turner was that disconnected man going about his life, happily fulfilling his duty within his own self-protective bubble, until God suddenly burst it in a most horrific way. His story starts when that devastation left him clinging precariously to the remaining shreds of his broken marriage. Jim longs to share with other disconnected men what he learned through that ordeal, to help them understand their disobedience and show how they can achieve real connection with those they love.

Discussion QuestionsAdditional Info
Our neighborhoods are literally making us sick.Buildings with mold trigger asthma and other respiratory conditions. Geographic lack of access to food and health care increases childhood mortality. Community violence traumatizes residents. Poverty, unemployment, inadequate housing, food insecurity, racial injustice, and oppression cause physical changes in the body, resulting in disease and death.
But there is hope. Loving our neighbor includes creating social environments in which people can be healthy. While working in community redevelopment and treating uninsured families, Veronica Squires and Breanna Lathrop discovered that creating healthier neighborhoods requires a commitment to health equity. Jesus’ ministry brought healing through dismantling systems of oppression and overturning social norms that prevented people from living healthy lives. We can do the same in our communities through addressing social determinants that facilitate healing in under-resourced neighborhoods.
Everyone deserves the opportunity for good health. The decisions we make and actions we take can promote the health of our neighbors.

Unpopular Culture
$13.99Add to cartMoney is the key to happiness. Work hard, play hard. Look out for number one. Popular culture is full of phrases like these, telling us the best way to live, the right things to buy, the right body shape to have, the right people to hang out with. These messages are everywhere we look, 24 hours a day. But what if there was another way to live? What if we chose to live differently: to stand against injustice, to live life for more than just ourselves, to dare to be unpopular? Guvna B is rebelling against the status quo, and he’s calling you to join him. It’s time to flip the script, to demonstrate another way to live, to find freedom in going against the grain. It’s time for unpopular culture to take the stage.
