In the third installment of Amy Clipston’s Amish Heirloom series, Priscilla Allgyer returns to the Amish community she’d dreamt of escaping and learns the hard lessons of love and forgiveness from a surprising source.

In order to escape an abusive boyfriend, Priscilla Allgyer returns to the community she thought she’d left behind forever-returning with her six-year-old son after being excommunicated and estranged from her family for years. Her mother welcomes them, but her father is cold, only allowing her to live with them if she dresses plainly, confesses her sins, and agrees to marry within the community. Once again, she feels suffocated and trapped.

Priscilla reluctantly completes her shunning but notices Mark Riehl, a farmer with a playboy reputation, remaining kind to her and her son. After her father and the bishop catch Mark and Priscilla in a compromising situation, the two are compelled to enter an awkward engagement that neither had planned.

    • Luis De Molina

      $24.99

When Luis de Molina died in Madrid in 1600, he had every reason to believe he was about to be anathametized by Pope Clement VIII. The Protestant Reformation was splitting Europe, tribunals of the Inquisition met regularly in a dozen Spanish cities, and the Pope had launched a commission two years earlier to investigate Molina’s writings.

Molina was eventually vindicated, though the decision came seven years after his death. In the centuries that followed Molina was relegated to relatively minor status in the history of theology until a renaissance of interest in recent years. His doctrine of God’s “middle knowledge,” in particular, has been appropriated by a number of current philosophers and theologians, with apologist William Lane Craig calling it “one of the most fruitful theological ideas ever conceived.”

In Luis de Molina: The Life and Theology of the Founder of Middle Knowledge, author Kirk R. MacGregor outlines the main contours of Molina’s subtle and far-reaching philosophical theology, covering his views on God’s foreknowledge, salvation and predestination, poverty and obedience, and social justice. Drawing on writings of Molina never translated into English, MacGregor also provides insight into the experiences that shaped Molina, recounting the events of a life fully as dramatic as any of the Protestant Reformers.

With implications for topics as wide-ranging as biblical inerrancy, creation and evolution, the relationship between Christianity and world religions, the problem of evil, and quantum indeterminacy, Molina’s thought remains as fresh and relevant as ever. Most significantly, perhaps, it continues to offer the possibility of a rapprochement between Calvinism and Arminianism, a view of salvation that fully upholds both God’s predestination and human free will.

As the first full-length work ever published on Molina, Kirk MacGregor’s Luis de Molina provides an accessible and insightful introduction for scholars, students, and armchair theologians alike.

    • Power Of Pictures In Christian Thought

      $41.99

Part One considers key philosophical and aesthetic evaluations of literary images and symbols. The power of pictures is widely appreciated, as in the adage ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’. Sometimes Christian discourse can be smothered by endless prose, which demands much inferential reasoning. There is, however, a contrary argument. An isolated visual representation can be misleading if it is improperly interpreted. For example, some mystical visions are interpreted as direct instructions from the Holy Spirit, as happened with the Radical Reformers, who advocated the Peasants’ Revolt. Hence theories of symbol, metaphor, and visual representation must be examined Part Two discusses visual representation in the Old Testament, the teaching of Jesus, pictures and analogies in Paul, and the Book of Revelation. This shows the range of authentic visual representations. In contrast to biblical material, we find throughout Christian history abundant examples of misleading imagery which is often passed off as Christian. A notorious example is found in the visual representation and metaphors used by Gnostic writers. Almost as bad are some visual representations used by the medieval mystics, Radical Reformers, and extreme charismatics – all of which lack valid criteria of interpretation, relying instead on subjective conviction. Similarly, sermons and prayers today can be enriched with pictorial images, but some can be misleading and unhelpful for the life of the Church.

In our globalized world, ideas are constantly being exchanged between people of different cultural backgrounds. But educators often struggle to adapt to the contexts of diverse learners. Some focus so much on content delivery that they overlook crosscultural barriers to effective teaching.

Educator and missiologist James Plueddemann offers field-tested insights for teaching across cultural differences. He unpacks how different cultural dynamics may inhibit learning and offers a framework for integrating conceptual ideas into practical experience. He provides a model of teaching as pilgrimage, where the aim is not merely the mastery of information but the use of knowledge to foster the development of the pilgrim learner.

Plueddemann’s crosscultural experience shows how teachers can make connections between content and context, bridging truth and life. Those who teach in educational institutions, mission organizations, churches, and other ministries will find insights here for transformational crosscultural learning.

    • Church Forsaken : Practicing Presence In Neglected Neighborhoods

      $24.99

“There are no God-forsaken places, just church-forsaken places.” -Jon Fuller, OMF International

Jonathan Brooks was raised in the Englewood neighborhood on the south side of Chicago. As soon as he was able, he left the community and moved as far away as he could. But through a remarkable turn of events, he reluctantly returned and found himself not only back in Englewood but also serving as a pastor (“Pastah J”) and community leader.

In Church Forsaken, Brooks challenges local churches to rediscover that loving our neighbors means loving our neighborhoods. Unpacking the themes of Jeremiah 29, he shows how Christians can be fully present in local communities, building homes and planting gardens for the common good. His holistic vision and practical work offers good news for forgotten people and places. And community stakeholders and civic leaders will rediscover that churches are viable partners in community transformation in ways that they may never have considered.

God has always been at work in neglected neighborhoods. Join Pastah J on this journey and discover new hope for your community.

Women have advanced God’s mission throughout history and around the world. But women often face particular obstacles in ministry. What do we need to know about how women thrive?

Mission researcher Mary Lederleitner interviewed and surveyed respected women in mission leadership from across the globe to gather their insights, expertise, and best practices. She unveils how women serve in distinctive ways and identifies key traits of faithful connected leaders. When women face opposition based on their gender, they employ various strategies to carry on with resilience and hope. Real-life stories and case studies shed light on dynamics that inhibit women and also give testimony to God’s grace and empowerment in the midst of challenges.

Women and men will find resources here for partnering together in effective ministry and mission. Organizations can help women flourish through advocacy, mentoring, and addressing structural issues. Wherever God has invited you to serve and lead, discover that you are not alone as you answer the call.

    • Psalms 73-150 : Old Testament Volume 8

      $64.99

“I lift up my eyes to the hills.

From where does my help come?

“My help comes from the Lord,

who made heaven and earth.” (Ps. 121:1-2)

Throughout the history of the church, Christians have often turned to the Book of Psalms in both rejoicing and suffering as a significant resource for Christian belief and practice, and as the church’s prayer book and hymnal. The Protestant reformers also turned to the Psalms during their time of significant spiritual renewal, theological debate, and ecclesial reform.

There they found comfort, guidance, and wisdom from God that applied to their context as much as it did to David’s. As John Calvin explained, “The Holy Spirit has presented in a living image all the griefs, sorrows, fears, doubts, hopes, cares, perplexities, in short, all the emotions with which human minds are often disturbed.” And as Martin Luther proclaimed, the reformers also heard a resounding affirmation of the good news of Jesus Christ: “The Psalter ought to be a precious and beloved book because it promises Christ’s death and resurrection so clearly.”

In this volume, Herman Selderhuis guides readers through the diversity of Reformation-era commentary on the second half of the Psalter. Represented herein are well-known voices as well as lesser-known figures from a variety of theological traditions, including Lutherans, Reformed, Radicals, Anglicans, and Roman Catholics, many of whose comments appear for the first time in English. By making available a variety of resources-including commentaries, sermons, treatises, and confessions-this volume enables scholars to better understand the depth and breadth of Reformation commentary, provides resources for contemporary preachers, and offers keen insights to all who trust that their help comes from the Lord.

In his meditations, Abraham Kuyper reveals a side of himself unseen in his well–known theological writings. First published in 1880 and 1883 and never before translated in English, the devotions in Honey from the Rock were written for the nourishment and health of his soul. Rather than the public figure and theologian, we see a man thirsting and hungering for God’s presence. Modern readers entering this sacred space will be spiritually renewed, restored, and replenished by the light of God’s Word, before returning to our daily callings. • 7 Books That Rocked The Church

      $19.95

7 Books That Rocked the Church, by Daniel Crane, explores controversial books throughout history that the Christian church has famously disavowed–and asks the question why?

Engagingly written and thoughtfully researched, this book explores what the “fuss” was all about with books ranging in date from the second century after Christ to more contemporary authors. Books by Karl Marx, Charles Darwin, Galileo Galilei, and many others profoundly upset the church by calling into question foundational Christian doctrines or beliefs. Most of the books discussed here were banned at some time by Christian authorities.

The author’s aim is to challenge Christians to respond critically but open-mindedly to books that oppose a Christian worldview. Readers of 7 Books That Rocked the Church will come away better equipped to answer the charge that the church is intolerant of competing ideas. They will also develop the ability to interact with new and possibly dangerous ideas that comport with Jesus’ admonition to be wise as serpents but gentle as doves. This book also includes discussion questions for further study.

    • Jesus Economy : A Biblical View Of Poverty The Currency Of Love And A Patte

      $16.99

You know people around the world are struggling. A homeless man holds a sign that reads, “Anything helps.” A poor child lives in a slum swarming with flies. A refugee mother is on the brink of starvation. You ask yourself, “But what can I do about such big problems?”

You’re looking for long-term solutions. John D. Barry shares incredible, and often shocking, stories about working among the impoverished and unchurched in the U.S. and abroad. And since Barry is a Bible scholar, Jesus’ Economy is also deeply rooted in the Scriptures. It is a personal, sometimes funny, often heartbreaking account that presents a revolutionary pattern for lasting change.

Jesus’ Economy is based on self-sacrifice. His currency is love. It’s called Jesus’ Economy because it’s about creating a spiritual and physical economy for those who need it most. Here is a thoroughly biblical and compassionate pattern for addressing issues of poverty and offering the hope of the gospel. Jesus’ Economy

      – Shows how you as an individual can best encourage renewal in your community.
      – Demonstrates how your church community or any group can alleviate poverty.
      – Presents a unified plan for creating jobs, spreading the gospel, and meeting basic needs.
      – Focuses on community development and sustainability– lasting change, globally and locally.

Jesus’ Economy is a call to address our own spiritual poverty–as people who can too easily become distant from Christ–and it is a call to address the physical poverty all around us in a smart and sustainable way. Jesus’ teachings show that with simple, everyday choices, you can make the world a better place and create enduring change. Here’s how to live Jesus’ economy–a currency of love.

Lily Martin is at her wit’s end. Being a single parent of a ten-year old is challenging. But Jasmine is no ordinary child. • Reformed Preaching : Proclaiming Gods Word From The Heart Of The Preacher T

      $40.00

Some preaching is like the winter sun: it brightly illuminates the mind but leaves the heart cold. Other sermons are like cotton candy: they taste sweet but contain no substantial nutrients. Biblical sermons, however, need both heat and substance-a conviction at the core of the great Reformed tradition of experiential preaching. Reformed experiential preaching not only informs minds, but also engages hearts and transforms the conduct of hearers. This robust treatment of Reformed experiential preaching by Joel Beeke-a pastor and professor of preaching with over 4 decades of experience-explores the heart of Reformed preaching, examining sermons by preachers from the Reformation and bridging the historical gap by showing pastors what the preaching of this life-transforming truth looks like today.

    • Parenting With Heart

      $14.99

Parents want to be the best person they can for their children, but much of the time they may feel like giraffes on ice–clumsy, unprepared, and in imminent danger of going down. The good news is, our children don’t need perfect parents. They need authentic, fully-hearted, relationally engaged parents who can mess up and move on more than parents who always get it right.

In this freeing book, respected therapists and bestselling authors Stephen James and Chip Dodd invite parents to let go of perfectionism and micromanaging as they learn to parent from a place of emotional honesty and intimacy. Through their clinical experience and relatable true stories, they show parents that raising children to become capable, loving, and wise-hearted adults is far more about accepting our flaws than projecting an impossible standard to our children that we already know we can’t live up to. Parents will learn how to resolve issues from their own childhoods, tune into their feelings and the emotions of their children, and be present with their families through both the best and worst of circumstances.

    • Jesus Loves Movies

      $12.99

      Philip Strangolagalli Title

      Intriguing title, eh?

Drama. Comedy. Thriller. Action. Jesus loves them all. And yes, even horror movies. Why? Because movies mean a lot to us. We quote them on the daily and they influence our lives. So, if Jesus loves us, don’t you think that movies would also mean a lot to Him? Isn’t He supposed to be personal?

Cinema is a spiritual sanctuary. It can be a place of healing, a place where you can hear the validating voice of a personal and very present God.

Jesus Loves Movies provides you with thirty films that will draw you into a cinematic experience with the most creative Director. Use this book as a devotional, a guide, or in any way that you desire. May it show you that God is in everything. May it lighten your load and demonstrate to you that He is fun, interesting, and deep. May the pages of this book open your senses to a side of God that the modern day church sometimes struggles to understand.

Written during a season of deep pain, grief, and injustice; analyses of thirty films contained in the pages of Jesus Loves Movies will bring you to a secret movie space. A space where the most Holy One will adorn you with His peace, love, and restoration.

It’s time to sit back and relax, grab some popcorn, watch some movies, and get ready to experience God in a way that you were made to.

This is Phil Strangolagalli’s first book and it was never planned.

Phil is recently married to his beautiful wife, Kathryn (the real Wonder Woman) and they don’t live far from the Daily Bugle. In Phil’s spare time you can find him taking long walks in the movie theater, teaching his wife about the complexity of film, and talking to strangers.

Phil is excited for how this book will reveal to you a side of Jesus that he believes people must know–an intimate, fun, actually very real God.

    • Letting Go Of The Need To Be Right

      $21.99

You may have the need to be right if you:
      1. Judge yourself by your intentions and others by their actions.
      2. Are more concerned about who’s right rather than what’s right.
      3. Find yourself talking more than listening.
      4. Accuse others of being too opinionated.
      5. Struggle to admit you’re wrong, or even acknowledge that someone was partially right.
      6. Feel compelled to defend your viewpoint when confronted or challenged.
      7. Steal the spotlight instead of celebrate the team.
      8. Resist or dismiss alternative perspectives because of a my-way-or-the-highway attitude.
      9. Have a selective memory, recalling situations in your favor.
      10. Don’t see yourself in any of the statements above.

The good news is that you don’t always have to be right or be the star that shines the brightest. Letting Go of the Need to Be Right will help you identify pressures that impede personal growth and hinder relationships.

Jesus calls leaders to be lifelong learners and servants. When we change our view of success, the pressures to know it all, have it all, and be it all lose their power over us. We are then free to be dependent on God and interdependent with others – living and leading in ways that result in better solutions, creative and productive collaboration, and fulfilling relationships at work and home.

Is this what you think of when you think of the suburbs? Or do you think of safety, beauty, comfort, and ease?

More than half of Americans live in the suburbs. Ashley Hales writes that for many Christians, however: “The suburbs are ignored (‘Your place doesn’t matter, we’re all going to heaven anyway’), denigrated and demeaned (‘You’re selfish if you live in a suburb; you only care about your own safety and advancement’), or seen as a cop-out from a faithful Christian life (‘If you really loved God, you’d move to Africa or work in an impoverished area’). In everything from books to Hollywood jokes, the suburbs aren’t supposed to be good for our souls.”

What does it look like to live a full Christian life in the suburbs? Suburbs reflect our good, God-given desire for a place to call home. And suburbs also reflect our own brokenness. This book is an invitation to look deeply into your soul as a suburbanite and discover what it means to live holy there.

      $14.99

One Step at a Time shows readers how God has a way of throwing responsibilities at people that are far too big for them, but never too big for him. Elmer and Eileen Lehman’s story describes how God took two quite ordinary people and led them on a missionary pilgrimage for more than sixty years of marriage. God’s path led them from a rural farm in northern New York State to a children’s home in Puerto Rico, then to academic study in Virginia followed by twenty-two years in Costa Rica, and then further study in Virginia, culminating with a ministry of teaching, Missions administration, church planting, and retirement in Ohio. One Step at a Time includes eight key lessons they learned along the way that speak to others’ journeys as well. Their prayer is that others would be encouraged to step out and respond to God’s call upon their lives and risk their future for Him.

      $19.93

“Do you feel as though God favors you? That He is on your side? That He is always with you?”

These are the questions Robert Blair asks in the 13 sermons in Luke Alive, Volume 1e Alive, Volume 1. They cut straight to the Christian heart. They address our greatest fear: that we might not be good enough for God. That we might not enjoy his favor.

Blair does not stop short at dismissing our fears with a casual overview of grace. He addresses where they come from, a natural drive to earn favor, to work toward something we can never fully attain ourselves. The Gospel of Luke shows us what we can “earn” with our actions and what we can’t.

In the sinful woman who cries at Jesus’ feet and cleans them, we see the image of genuine gratitude for forgiveness. In the healing of the crippled woman, we discern that it’s always time to do good for other people.

Luke Alivee Alive guides ministers through our deepest of Christian fears and desires, and offers satisfying answers based firmly in scripture. It is a must-have volume for pastors seeking to answer direct questions with plain language, whether from the pulpit or the living room couch.

The Gospel of Luke shows us what we can “earn” with our actions and what we can’t.

In Mary, the Mother of Jesus we have an image of what it means to be chosen, to be given the Lord’s favor. In Jesus’ proclamation of the year of the Lord’s favor at Nazareth we see that, favored as we may be, there is a kind of favor we can earn when we seize the opportunity. In the story of Jesus and his disciples picking grain on the Sabbath we learn that we do not earn favor by following rules.

That’s when it gets really exciting.
