    • Mark Of The King (Reprinted)

      $24.70

Sweeping Historical Fiction Set at the Edge of the Continent

After being imprisoned and branded for the death of her client, twenty-five-year-old midwife Julianne Chevalier trades her life sentence for exile to the fledgling 1720s French colony of Louisiana, where she hopes to be reunited with her brother, serving there as a soldier. To make the journey, though, women must be married, and Julianne is forced to wed a fellow convict.

When they arrive in New Orleans, there is no news of Benjamin, Julianne’s brother, and searching for answers proves dangerous. What is behind the mystery, and does military officer Marc-Paul Girard know more than he is letting on?

With her dreams of a new life shattered, Julianne must find her way in this dangerous, rugged land, despite never being able to escape the king’s mark on her shoulder that brands her a criminal beyond redemption.

Sren Kierkegaard (1813-1855), the Danish theologian, philosopher, and preacher, in his last years issued a blistering attack on the established Christianity of the nineteenth century. That challenge was also a summons to an authentic life of Christian faith. With intensity and acumen, Kierkegaard diagnosed the spiritual and intellectual ills of modernity and Christendom and offered a constructive “upbuilding” for active, faithful Christian existence. One of Kierkegaard’s key texts, The Sickness unto Death, outlines the problem of the human condition-sin/despair-and draws the reader into the heart of the Christian faith: the infinite qualitative difference between God and creatures and the paradox of the God-man who came to bring abundant life in the form of authentic selfhood “grounded transparently” in the Creator.

In this volume, Paul R. Sponheim, introduces readers to Kierkegaard, unfolds this pivotal text and its connections to Kierkegaard’s theological and ethical worldview, and traces the reception and significance of this text in the modern and contemporary theological tradition. In this, Existing Before God continues the contribution of the Mapping the Tradition series in providing compact yet salient maps of the theological, historical, social, and contextual impact of the most important minds and texts of Christian history.

    • On The Road To The Cross (Student/Study Guide)

      $16.99

The Easter drama plays out on history’s stage with magnificent and larger-than-life characters. Yet some of the most important lessons of Easter come from those whose names you may not recognize: Simon the Leper, Malchus, the Centurion at the cross, Cleopas, Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea, Barabbas, Simon of Cyrene, and Mary Magdalene offer a unique perspective on one of the greatest events in human history. And yet their stories are often overlooked. On the Road to the Cross allows you to experience Easter through the eyes of the everyday people who witnessed the triumphal entry, saw Jesus drag his cross to Calvary, and cried through Christ’s last words. Each new perspective opens the door to a fresh consideration of Easter and its impact on their lives and ours. Leader guide also available.

    • Rescue Me

      $20.00

When Deputy Sam Brooks commits to something, nothing can sway him–not just on the job as liaison between the Mercy Falls sheriff’s department and PEAK Rescue, but in his private life. He’s the one who stuck around to take care of his mother after his father’s accidental death. And he’s the one–perhaps the only one–who believes Sierra Rose is the perfect girl for him. Safe, practical, and organized, she’s nothing like her hippie, impulsive, bleeding heart sister, Willow.

Willow, however, has been in love with Sam Brooks for as long as she can remember. But she wants her sister to have a happy ending. Besides, Willow has other things to focus on–namely, nabbing the job as youth pastor for her small-town church. Best thing for her to do is to purge Sam from her heart.

Neither can predict the events that will bring them together in a fight for their lives in the forbidding wilderness of Glacier National Park. Stranded, injured, and with the winter weather closing in, Sam and Willow will have to work together to save a crew of terrified teenagers. As they fight to survive, they might just discover a new hope for love.

    • Your Cholesterol Matters (Reprinted)

      $17.64

When it comes to our health, what we don’t know can harm us most. Eighty-five percent of people over the age of fifty have significant blockage in the arteries of their hearts without any symptoms. Two-thirds of the time, the initial symptom is a full-blown heart attack. Doctors tell patients to watch their diet, get regular exercise, and lose weight–but they also increasingly prescribe “cholesterol lowering” drugs that patients will take every day for the rest of their lives. The problem is that a daily pill only addresses one small part of the cholesterol problem.

Dr. Furman wants readers to understand what their cholesterol numbers mean, how best to change levels of both the “lethal” LDL cholesterol and “hero” HDL cholesterol, and how to adjust their lifestyles in order to stay off of expensive medications that don’t address the whole problem (and often have negative health-impacting side effects). Not only will Dr. Furman’s advice make them healthier in the short term, it will also enable them to have more control over the aging process, allowing them to live longer, better lives.

    • Heretics And Orthodoxy

      $24.99

Two of G. K. Chesterton’s most important and well-known works are contained in this volume: Heretics, and Orthodoxy. In the first of these, Chesterton addresses the intellectual movements of his time that he considered most prominent and destructive. Chesterton confronts relativism, individualism, neo-paganism, and other trends of the modern period, paying special attention to the artists and intellectual elite of his time. He writes in detail about events of his time that were affected by these viewpoints. Heretics begins and ends with chapters on orthodoxy, anticipating the content of his most famous book-Orthodoxy, a classic that is part memoir, part apologetic. It exhibits Chesterton at his finest-a combination of literary wit, theological acumen, and pointed cultural critique. The two works complement each other perfectly, providing an accessible entry point to the battleground of truth and falsehood. Lexham Classics are beautifully typeset new editions of classic works. Each book has been carefully transcribed from the original texts, ensuring an accurate representation of the writing as the author intended it to be read.

Grey Howard always tried to stay unnoticed. At least as unnoticed as a tall, strong girl can in a town of diminutive, underdeveloped citizens could be. She detests the Chemists, the magicians-come-scientists who rule her small western town. But she obediently takes the potion the Chemists ration out-a concoction that is supposed to help her and the rest of the town’s people survive each day. Then her best friend, Whit, is caught by Chemist enforcers, and Grey feels everything shift inside her. Especially after Whit is severely punished for reasons that go beyond his minor infraction. Little does Grey know, her growing defiance has a greater meaning. And when her rebellion leads her to the family shop one night, a treaty is accidentally broken. Grey then finds herself transported to a world within an ancient curio cabinet, where the porcelain figures are real, and a strange man known as the Mad Tock beckons to her. To escape, she must find a key-one that could end the Chemist’s dark rule forever.

      $26.23

      Publisher Marketing:
When Oceans Roar tells the remarkable stories of people who heard the still small voice of God, and saw God do amazing things when they took God at his word and surrendered themselves to him.

The stories told in this book represent roads that few people would have chosen. Yet having said ‘yes’ to God, and taken the first step, each one was strengthened, empowered and equipped for the journey ahead. It includes the story of a couple who prayed over their child who had no heart beat for three days in the sure knowledge that God would meet them at their point of need, and of a Bangladeshi freedom fighter taken before a firing squad only to learn that God had a plan for his life. This is a book that will challenge you to find your true identity, and having done so to step out of complacency and take risks in the sure knowledge that God will never leave you or forsake you as you surrender yourself to him. Be inspired to listen out for the still small voice of God above the ocean’s roar.

      $41.26

Ruth leaves her comfortable, settled home in Durban, to live among a tribe of nomads in Uganda. “I waved goodbye to my family at Durban airport, and flew to Nairobi. I half-hoped for a miracle mid-air to change me into the super-heroine missionaries are supposed to be. Nothing happened. I got off the plane, the same Ruth Stranex, who had been assessed by my Oxford college as “not outstanding.” Yet I was facing an outstandingly tough job, only possible with God’s help.”

Ruth has to adapt to the culture of the Pokot people: to their diet of cows’ blood and milk; their cattle-raiding wars; their frenzied search for water-holes. She delivers their babies, treats their malaria and sews up their spear wounds. She cleans up the infected sores left by witchdoctors trying to let out evil spirits. She challenges their goat sacrifices intended to appease an angry god. She tells them about the one sacrifice offered for them by the Lamb of God who is Love.

Then, without any warning, she is arrested, driven for 2 days, between policewomen with kalashnikovs and locked in a foul cell …..

You’ll love her frankness and her humour. You’ll wish you had friends like her African Christian friends. You may wish you had a faith like hers.

    • Theology Of The Lutheran Way

      $65.00

Rather than asking if theology is theoretical or practical-a question that reveals a fundamental lack of understanding about the nature of theology in general-it is better to ask “What exactly is theology?” It is this question that Oswald Bayer attempts to answer in Theology the Lutheran Way, clearing up misconceptions about the essence of theology. Along with Luther himself, Bayer claims that theology, rather than being something that we do, is really what God does.

Based primarily on the third section of Bayer’s original German work of the same title, this book evaluates certain approaches to theology that have been influential, from Schleiermacher’s understanding of theology to debates with Kant, Hegel, and Bultmann. It also includes a substantial section on Luther from the original in order to clarify the Lutheran tradition

    • Early Luther : Stages In A Reformation Reorientation

      $56.66

The development of Martin Luther’s thought has commanded much scholarly attention because of the Reformation and its remarkable effects on the history of Christianity in the West. But much of that scholarship has been so enthralled by certain later debates that it has practically ignored and even distorted the context in and against which Luther’s thought developed. In The Early Luther Berndt Hamm, armed with expertise both in late-medieval intellectual life and in Luther, presents new perspectives that leave old debates behind.

A master Luther scholar, Hamm provides fresh insights into the development of Luther’s theology from his entry into the monastery through his early lectures on the Bible to his writing of the 95 Theses in 1517 and The Freedom of a Christian in 1520. Rather than looking for a single breakthrough, Hamm carefully outlines a series of significant shifts in Luther’s late-medieval theological worldview over the course of his early career. The result is a more accurate, nuanced portrait of Reformation giant Martin Luther.

At moments in history, individuals have embodied the gospel message with creativity and passion. One such moment began when a returned veteran named Francis Bernardone found a whole new world in a desolate space just outside Assisi: a leper colony. Drawn to discover the incarnate God, and joined by a collaborator as able and determined as he, Francis and Clare of Assisi’s desire to live authentically in gospel simplicity ushered in a revolutionary sensitivity to the presence of God within the human community.

Today, eight hundred years later, the first pope to take the name Francis invites us to engage the “revolution of tenderness” to which we are “summoned by the God who became flesh.” The example of Pope Francis gives us a new and vivid sense of just how compelling radical sincerity and reverent encounter with others can be. Capitalizing on the legacy of Francis and Clare and the energy of a visionary pope who raises critical questions about how to be faithful to the gospel, The Tenderness of God invites readers into a rich conversation across time and space about how to recapture our humanity and nurture our God-given capacity to live meaningfully and joyfully in communion with others.

From there we can round out a picture of where God is leading us, recognizing that EVERYTHING matters in building that picture. A masterful, inviting telling of the Christian story

Christian faith, says Martin Copenhaver, is not a subject to be mastered like calculus or Shakespeare-it is a story to be told and a life to be lived. No matter how much or how little you know, To Begin at the Beginning tells the story of Christian faith and invites you to take part in it.

In this book Copenhaver covers basic themes-the Bible, church, ministry, sacraments, prayer, ethics&mdash:in a clear and inviting way. His approach creates a valuable resource for pastors, an accessible guide for seekers and new Christians, and a “refresher course” for longtime Christians who want to engage anew with what they believe.

    • Concept Of Woman Volume 3

      $58.99

This pioneering study by Sister Prudence Allen traces the concept of woman in relation to man in Western thought from ancient times to the present. In her third and final volume Allen covers the years 1500-2015, continuing her chronological approach to individual authors from the first two volumes and also offering systematic arguments to defend some philosophical positions over against others.

Building on her work from Volumes I and II, Allen draws on four “communities of discourse” – Academic, Humanist, Religious, and Satirical – and she traces several recurring strands of sex and gender identity from the Renaissance to the present. Now complete, Allen’s magisterial study will be a valuable resource for scholars and students in the fields of women’s studies, philosophy, history, theology, literary studies, and political science.

In 1737, Anna Konig and her fellow church members stagger off a small wooden ship after ten weeks at sea, eager to start a new life in the vibrant but raw Pennsylvania frontier. On the docks of Port Philadelphia waits bishop Jacob Bauer, founder of the settlement and father to ship carpenter Bairn. It’s a time of new beginnings for the reunited Bauer family, and for Anna and Bairn’s shipboard romance to blossom.

But this perfect moment cannot last. As Bairn grasps the reality of what it means to be Amish in the New World–isolated, rigid with expectations, under the thumb of his domineering father–his enthusiasm evaporates. When a sea captain offers the chance to cross the ocean one more time, Bairn grabs it. Just one more crossing, he promises Anna. But will she wait for him?

When Henrik Newman joins the church just as it makes its way to the frontier, Anna is torn. He seems to be everything Bairn is not–bold, devoted, and delighted to vie for her heart. And the most dramatic difference? He is here; Bairn is not.

Far from the frontier, an unexpected turn of events weaves together the lives of Bairn, Anna, and Henrik. When a secret is revealed, which true love will emerge?

With the help of the wagon master, fifteen-year-old Corrie is the only one left to bring her two brothers and two sisters into a raucous California mining camp to find their uncle.

“A woman’s got to be strong,” Corrie’s mother had told her. “She’s got to be able to make her way alone if she has to.” And as her little troop arrives in Miracle Springs to discover that Uncle Nick has skipped town with the sheriff in pursuit, the “land of promise” seems more like a land of fear and danger. Shouts of “gold” and “new strike” fade away as Corrie stands in the middle of a strange town with everyone turning them away.

Gregarious Rose Lehman, who’s always the life of the Amish youth singings, is determined to marry the bishop’s son, Reuben Byler–until the handsome Army buddy of her future brother-in-law shows up in Lancaster County. In comparison to Trevor, Reuben seems downright boring. Trevor shares Rose’s sense of fun and adventure, and her easygoing disposition.

When her sister Lila’s buggy is rear-ended and Lila is horribly injured, Rose finds herself with more freedom than she’s ever experienced. Everyone is so concerned about Lila that no one realizes Rose is sneaking out with Trevor. Except for Reuben. But in his usual passive way, he doesn’t confront her, nor does he address the situation with her Dat or anyone else in the district. Rose appreciates Reuben’s discretion, but she also resents it. Part of her relishes the freedom she’s found with Trevor, but the other part of her wishes Reuben would “fight” for her, as much as any Amish man would. Too late, she realizes the foolish choice she’s made. Has she ruined her best chance at love, or is there another path to happiness she just hasn’t seen yet?

As storms of persecution, betrayals, and attacks face believers worldwide, many are filled with fear and wonder if God has abandoned His people.

      Radical Islamic terrorism spreading fear
A deterioration of morality and Judeo-Christian values

The gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is the only effective weapon against terrorism and social injustice. He challenges the Church to live holy in a perverted world that seeks to destroy its godly heritage, and return to its total dependence on the basic truths of the Word of God.

It is clear that the 17th-century Particular Baptists’ formulation of covenant theology in the 1689 Confession of Faith was a modified version of the one contained in the Westminster Confession of Faith.

    • 1 Corinthians

      $29.99

Christians in the bustling, diverse city of Corinth in 50 BCE quarreled about how to be faithful to Jesus. In Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, he calls the small band of new believers to unity and cautions against factionalism, themes that pastor Dan Nighswander unpacks for contemporary readers in this thirty-second volume in the Believers Church Bible Commentary series. Any Christians who experience division over loyalty to different leaders, who find it hard to agree on sexual ethics (or to live up to them), and who feel tension between their theological convictions and social context will find common ground with believers in Corinth. Home of the exalted “love chapter,” which roots all Christian action in the greatest gift, 1 Corinthians equips those who follow Jesus to craft true community with other believers, differences notwithstanding. With keen theological, biblical, and pastoral insight, Nighswander illuminates for readers the apostle Paul’s challenge to the Corinthian church and calls Christians today to unity through the reconciling work of Christ.

    • Leviticus

      $29.99

In the thirty-third volume in the Believers Church Bible Commentary series, Old Testament scholar Perry B. Yoder argues that the oft-neglected book of Leviticus discloses valuable truths, symbols, and practices of the New Testament. Traversing difficult interpretive territory such as the sacrificial system, purity laws, and priestly instructions, Yoder writes with a clarity and nuance that will interest a wide swath of readers. He eloquently poses for readers the focal question of Leviticus: how to live in the presence of God.

    • Restored By Grace

      $18.60

Restored by Grace is a short intellectual journey to answer two very important questions: What is the Good News? Are there good reasons to believe?

The journey comprises seven sessions of dialogue between two characters, Sitara and Nathan.

      1. ‘Hope, Certainty, and Purpose’ is the beginning session of discussions on pain and suffering in life.

      2. In ‘Mental Tango, ‘ the discussions continue on to truth and its relation to faith. The session includes empirical evidence for a reality beyond the physical, and a mind separate from the brain.

      3. ‘Primary Text’ is a discourse on the reliability of the Gospels as ancient primary sources of historical facts in their eyewitness accounts.

      4. ‘The Historical Jesus’ session focuses on Jesus as a historical person, and things about him, by considering both non-Christian historical writings and biblical narratives.

      5. ‘Beginnings’ is a session of discussions covering various perspectives on origins, and implications of some essential and relevant facts from the book of Genesis.

      6. ‘Restored by Grace’ centers around the crucifixion of Jesus and its meanings.

      7. The journey ends with ‘Regeneration, ‘ which is about various essential aspects of Christian growth.

    • On My Knees

      $16.99

Many people today have abandoned the whole idea of petitionary prayer because, to their minds, it has failed to live up to its promise. They are disillusioned by unanswered prayer and struggle to hear Goda??s response. With superficial or selective Bible knowledge as a foundation, faith in prayer becomes wishful thinking.

This book takes the reader beyond those weak understandings into the heart of what the Bible actually teaches about prayer, placing profound theological truth back into the hands of the nontheologian.

Tackling tricky questions that many of us have about prayer but may be afraid to ask, Chris Band helps readers to examine their own ideas about who God is and how He relates to the world. This results in increasing confidence as expectations about prayer are reshaped to more accurately reflect God’s priorities and promises.

    • Holy Listening : With Breath Body And The Spirit

      $14.99

Many of us long to hear God’s voice, yet often we overlook the great wisdom God gave us in our bodies. There is a deep connection between our bodies and spirits. What might happen if we listened more deeply to the wisdom of our bodies? How might that change the way we listen to God? A stroke at age 31 forced Whitney Simpson to slow down and listen more deeply to her body. During her journey toward healing and wholeness, she found several ancient practices helpful in listening to God and her body: lectio divina, yoga, breath prayer, essential oils, and reflection. Ultimately she found God’s peace. Listening with the entire body, not just our ears, may seem like a strange concept. Yet God created the body and breath to give us life. We don’t have to experience a crisis to learn to listen to God’s activity in and around us. We can slow down and use the gift of our breath and our bodies to listen for God anytime and anywhere. This 40-day prayer book guides us to listen more closely to God with our bodies. Each day includes scripture, yoga postures, breath prayers, essential oils, and reflection questions.

    • Treasures In Dark Places

      $21.17

Skinny-armed toddlers with wide, hungry eyes and bloated bellies watched us beneath thatched eaves, a black string around their waists and heavy mascara smeared around their eyes to fend off the demons. Their rescue and freedom were why I had come. But now that I was here, what was I, one small woman, to do in the face of overwhelming poverty and evil?

From the beautiful Himalayas to the mighty Ganges River of northern India, a soul-stealing spiritual darkness ravages the land. More than 35 million children are orphaned and destitute. Over 25,000 girls are abducted annually for sex trafficking. Dictators and loan sharks force millions into physical slavery while witch doctors and centuries old idol worship imprison even more in spiritual bondage.

God’s heart breaks for them. And in His great mercy, He called one unlikely young woman to shine His light in this dark place.

With warmth and disarming honesty, Leanna Cinquanta shares the rigors, heartaches and miraculous experiences of living hand-in-hand with God, invading the blackness and liberating His treasures. You will be amazed and encouraged at how the supernatural love of Jesus can transform not just one heart, but the hearts of a nation.
