    • Experiencing The Greatness Of God In The Spiritual Realm

      $16.00

The lives of many families are being impacted by the devastating effects of alcoholism. Clinical counselors have characterized alcoholism as “a family disease.” In her new book Experiencing the Greatness of God in the Spiritual Realm Alexandris Townsend offers an inspiring story of unconditional love, faith, and the power of prayer in breaking the cycle of alcohol addiction that afflicted her youngest son for over a decade, and his magnificent deliverance in 2012. Alexandris knew families from her childhood that suffered from this addiction, but always thought of it as a problem affecting others. Over time, God changed her thinking and transformed her life to become a spiritual advocate of His divine greatness and a beacon of hope to families with loved ones bound by this disease. Experiencing the Greatness of God in the Spiritual Realm is the testimony of God’s power working through a mother’s faith. Evangelist Alexandris Townsend is the Minister of Evangelism Training and Development at Praise & Worship Christian Center in Columbia, SC. Formerly the Minister of Evangelism & Discipleship at Kingdom Builders Christian Center (also in Columbia SC). She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Bible from Columbia International University (2003), Columbia, SC. Evangelist Townsend is married to Milbert Townsend and they have two sons, and four grandchildren.

    • Rich Christians In An Age Of Hunger

      $19.99

Do you want to make a true difference in the world? Dr. Ron Sider does. He has, since before he first published Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger in 1978. Despite a dramatic reduction in world hunger since then, 34,000 children still die daily of starvation and preventable disease, and 1.3 billion people, worldwide, remain in abject poverty. So, the professor of theology went back to re-examine the issues by twenty-first century standards. Finding that Conservatives blame morally reprehensible individual choices, and Liberals blame constrictive social and economic policy, Dr. Sider finds himself agreeing with both sides. In this new look at an age-old problem, he offers not only a detailed explanation of the causes, but also a comprehensive series of practical solutions, in the hopes that Christians like him will choose to make a difference.

    • Reading Romans In Context

      $24.98

Readers of Paul today are more than ever aware of the importance of interpreting Paul’s letters in their Jewish context. In Reading Romans in Context a team of Pauline scholars go beyond a general introduction that surveys historical events and theological themes and explore Paul’s letter to the Romans in light of Second Temple Jewish literature. In this non-technical collection of short essays, beginning and intermediate students are given a chance to see firsthand what makes Paul a distinctive thinker in relation to his Jewish contemporaries. Following the narrative progression of Romans, each chapter pairs a major unit of the letter with one or more thematically related Jewish text, introduces and explores the theological nuances of the comparative text, and shows how these ideas illuminate our understanding of the book of Romans.

    • Slow To Judge

      $19.99

God invites us to judge and to help correct wrongs. Sometimes, however, rather than doing the hard work demanded in order to judge justly, we pre-judge a person based on our own biases and superficial experiences. We stifle dialog before the conversation even begins. If all we know is our own faith, and we never put it side-by-side with what others believe, our spiritual growth and commitments can be easily stunted. By truly listening and learning from those with different beliefs, we can broaden and deepen our kingdom commitments.
It is possible to stand up for Jesus, to articulate our faith clearly as witnesses, and to defend our faith effectively, while at the same time not being perceived as judgmental. Christians need to be faithful witnesses to God who are willing to listen to people with drastically different stories. In those exchanges, when we suspend judgment and truly listen, we will find truth and beauty and goodness in some of the most unexpected places. We will also find that, if we truly listen, we may be given a chance to speak.

      Features include:
Help for interfaith and intercultural dialog
Thought-provoking questions for spiritual conversation or reflection

      $21.99

Vinh Chung was born in South Vietnam, just eight months after it fell to the communists in 1975. His family was wealthy, controlling a rice-milling empire worth millions; but within months of the communist takeover, the Chungs lost everything and were reduced to abject poverty. Knowing that their children would have no future under the new government, the Chungs decided to flee the country. In 1979, they joined the legendary “boat people” and sailed into the South China Sea, despite knowing that an estimated two hundred thousand of their countrymen had already perished at the hands of brutal pirates and violent seas.
Where the Wind Leads follows Vinh Chung and his family on their desperate journey from pre-war Vietnam, through pirate attacks on a lawless sea, to a miraculous rescue and a new home in the unlikely town of Fort Smith, Arkansas. There Vinh struggled against poverty, discrimination, and a bewildering language barrier-yet still managed to graduate from Harvard Medical School.

Where the Wind Leads is Vinh’s tribute to the courage and sacrifice of his parents, a testimony to his family’s faith, and a reminder to people everywhere that the American dream, while still possible, carries with it a greater responsibility.

      $18.81

To be a missionary to Canadian Indians in the late 1800s meant you had to be brave and relentless. It meant nearly freezing when sleeping outside in 50-below-zero weather. It meant canoeing upstream for hundreds of miles to reach remote Indian villages. It meant eating wild cat and other stranger things, or eating nothing for days at a time. But it also meant you were privileged to present the good news of the true Great Spirit to those who were often misunderstood and mistreated. The adventures in this book are rivaled only by the incredible conversions of those who saw the Creator in nature and then worshipped Him too. You will be challenged and inspired by the results of one man who went where the Lord led, with little regard for himself.

    • 1st American Evangelical

      $21.99

Cotton Mather (1663-1728) was America’s most famous pastor and scholar at the beginning of the eighteenth century. People today generally associate him with the infamous Salem witch trials, but in this new biography Rick Kennedy tells a bigger story: Mather, he says, was the very first American evangelical.

A fresh retelling of Cotton Mather’s life, this biography corrects misconceptions and focuses on how he sought to promote, socially and intellectually, a biblical lifestyle. As older Puritan hopes in New England were giving way to a broader and shallower Protestantism, Mather led a populist, Bible-oriented movement that embraced the new century – the beginning of a dynamic evangelical tradition that eventually became a major force in American culture.

Incorporating the latest scholarly research but written for a popular audience, The First American Evangelical brings Cotton Mather and his world to life in a way that helps readers understand both the Puritanism in which he grew up and the evangelicalism he pioneered.

      $48.99

Pope Paul VI characterized the Second Vatican Council’s Declaration on Religious Freedom — Dignitatis Humanae — as one of the greatest documents of Vatican II. It is also perhaps the most intensely debated document of the Council; both the drafting of the Declaration of Religious Freedom and its reception have been marked by deep disagreements about what this teaching means for the Church.

In this book David Schindler and Nicholas Healy promote a deeper understanding of this important document. In addition to presenting a new translation of the approved text of the Declaration, Freedom, Truth, and Human Dignity makes available for the first time in English the five drafts of the document that were presented to the Council bishops leading up to the final version. The book also includes an original interpretive essay on Dignitatis Humanae by Schindler and an essay on the genesis and redaction history of the text by Healy.

    • Spent Matches : Igniting The Signal Fire For The Spiritually Dissatisfied

      $22.99

Spent Matches explores the possibility that a few small paradigm shifts within the church might make the difference between extinction and effectiveness. In fact, taking a clue from the automobile industry, the church might be able to not only halt the rapid decay in attendance but also become an effective tool in achieving Jesus’ final command. For instance, the Hybrid car has become the answer to Detroit’s environmental and oil crisis issues. Finding the synergy between two technologies, gas and electric has created a new day for the auto industry. Likewise, Spent Matchesexplores how the church can find synergy between two seemingly competing thoughts: an invitation to come and a command to go. The Hybrid metaphor brings energy to the church’s mission and an explanation to the age-old argument of Missional versus Attractional methods.

      Features include:
*Innovative ideas for growing the church
*Methods to reach those who may never have attended church
*Scripture passages that touch on the subject of church growth

    • Power Of Prophetic Prayer

      $17.00

Prayer releases the atmosphere of heaven into the earth.

If prayer can alter the course of history and reshape the world, then why don’t believers pray more? Perhaps because they don’t understand the power of prophetic prayer! Kynan Bridges leads readers in a spiritual discovery of what prayer is and how much power it holds by exploring the relationship between “prophecy” and “prayer.”

Prophetic prayer is more than a religious exercise; it is actually the supernatural catalyst that enables us to experience the power and presence of God in every area of our lives. If believers only knew the power of prophetic prayer, they wouldn’t struggle to bend the knee.

This book will answer your questions about prayer, including:
*What is the power and significance of prayer?
*Is every believer supposed to pray prophetically?
*Can I really manifest the miraculous through prayer?
*What do I do when nothing happens after I pray?

The Power of Prophetic Prayer will forever alter your prayer life.

The gospel of Jesus has not always been good news for Native Americans. The history of North America is marred by atrocities committed against Native peoples. Indigenous cultures were erased in the name of Christianity. As a result, to this day few Native Americans are followers of Jesus. However, despite the far-reaching effects of colonialism, some Natives have forged culturally authentic ways to follow the way of Jesus. In his final work, Richard Twiss provides a contextualized Indigenous expression of the Christian faith among the Native communities of North America. He surveys the painful, complicated history of Christian missions among Indigenous peoples and chronicles more hopeful visions of culturally contextual Native Christian faith. For Twiss, contextualization is not merely a formula or evangelistic strategy, but rather a relational process of theological and cultural reflection within a local community. Native leaders reframe the gospel narrative in light of post-colonization, reincorporating traditional practices and rituals while critiquing and correcting the assumptions of American Christian mythologies. Twiss gives voice to the stories of Native followers of Jesus, with perspectives on theology and spirituality and concrete models for intercultural ministry. Future generations of Native followers of Jesus, and those working crossculturally with them, will be indebted to this work.

    • God Healed Me

      $13.00

My journey started in 2002, I was a fit and healthy person and started to get discomfort in my right shoulder. After many tests the doctors discovered that I had a large tumour in my shoulder. I was shocked, devastated and very fearful. Was I going to live or was I going to die? I underwent surgery and radiation therapy but the treatments were unsuccessful.

I cried out to God for help and He heard the cry of my heart. He took me on an amazing journey where I learned so much about faith and trusting in His word. He is a God who is faithful to all His promises. We need to believe Him and not let go, even if our circumstances look grim.

I was totally healed in January 2007, it was a miracle. God took me from sickness to health and my story will encourage you to never give up and put your trust in Him. God is so faithful!

My name is Vikki O’Neill and I live in Perth Western Australia. I am an ordinary person who went on an extraordinary journey with God. I am blessed to be happy and healthy today because God miraculously healed me.

    • Divine Sex : A Compelling Vision For Christian Relationships In A Hypersexu (Rep

      $29.41

The digital revolution has ushered in a series of sexual revolutions, all contributing to a perfect storm for modern relationships. Online dating, social media, internet pornography, and the phenomenon of the smartphone generation have created an avalanche of change with far-reaching consequences for sexuality today. The church has struggled to address this new moral ecology because it has focused on clarity of belief rather than quality of formation. The real challenge for spiritual formation lies in addressing the underlying moral intuitions we carry subconsciously, which are shaped by the convictions of our age.

In this book, a fresh new voice offers a persuasive Christian vision of sex and relationships, calling young adults to faithful discipleship in a hypersexualized world. Drawing from his pastoral experience with young people and from cutting-edge research across multiple disciplines, Jonathan Grant helps Christian leaders understand the cultural forces that make the church’s teaching on sex and relationships ineffective in the lives of today’s young adults. He also sets forth pastoral strategies for addressing the underlying fault lines in modern sexuality.

    • Junk Food Christianity

      $13.26

The past fifty years have seen a steady decline of biblical mores in the United States and much of Western culture. As if in response, the frequency and magnitude of disasters and suffering, both natural and manmade, seems to be exploding everywhere. What might this mean for you and me, America, and humankind?

Author Jay Anthony has witnessed much of the decline firsthand. In Junk Food Christianity: The Decline of the USA, the End Times, and Biblical Prophecy, he surveys numerous and often subtle ways Americans, even within many Christian churches, have strayed ever further from following God’s Word as their moral standard. As the god of feelings is increasingly celebrated and worshipped at many a pulpit and altar, Junk Food Christianity draws our attention to how God historically dealt with humankind-in particular with the chosen people, when they, too, strayed from God’s Word. Discover how numerous gods have infiltrated our lives. Learn how God reacted when previous generations evicted him from their lives. What can we learn from the signs of our times? Our loving God forewarns us of an impending fate for those who choose to ignore the harbingers accompanying the decline of mores.

Are we headed for the end times – of our nation, of the World? Is there any hope? Junk Food Christianity: The Decline of the US, the End Times, and Biblical Prophecy holds the key to a way out of our predicament and to saving ourselves, our nation, and perhaps life on this planet!

    • Moses A Work In Progress

      $28.95

This is a story. It is only a story. However, I have tried to make the story fit with the history surrounding the biblical account, along with other relative stories. This is an attempt to fill in details of an ancient story, so that it may be possible for the reader to visualize the life and development of one of our biblical heroes. Many times we think that perhaps God will just send us a “burning bush” experience and we will be ready to charge off into history doing great things for God. Yes, Moses had a burning bush experience and a spoken direction from God. And yes, he then led 2 million people out of slavery into freedom. But Moses was eighty years in training. It was not until he crossed the Red Sea that Moses began to live through a period of time that would afford his maximum learning experiences.

    • Incognito : Lost And Found At Harvard Divinity School

      $19.99

Filled with humor, insight, and faith, this true story tells how one woman overcame challenges, stereotypes, and personal struggles at Harvard Divinity School and emerged an ordained minister.

As a bright young girl from Ohio, Andrea Raynor always wanted to be a doctor. Instead, she landed- almost by accident-at Harvard Divinity School, which, she quickly discovered, was no typical seminary. When she attended, in the 1980s, HDS was a place overflowing with creative expression and freedom of thought. Her classmates included two men who were undergoing sex changes and a woman who fancied herself a geisha. There was a lively gay and lesbian caucus, marches on Washington, civil disobedience, and more sexual intrigue than could be found in a stereotypical college fraternity house.

Providing a bird’s-eye view of life within the hallowed halls (and beneath the crimson robes), Incognito is a humorous and poignant glimpse inside one of the nation’s most revered institutions. It begins with the long drive from Ohio to Cambridge and ends at the bedside of a dying young woman. But the real story is about the challenges, surprises, and ultimately life-changing experiences Andrea faced on the road to understanding God’s call for her life. From navigating relationships to exploring whether a pretty girl can truly wear a collar, Incognito tackles our assumptions about spirituality, the church, morality, and identity, and affirms that God often works in ways-and in people-we least expect.

    • Atheist Who Didnt Exist

      $14.99

In the last decade, atheism has leapt from obscurity to the front pages: producing best-selling books, making movies, and plastering adverts on the side of buses. There’s an energy and a confidence to contemporary atheism: many people now assume that a godless skepticism is the default position, indeed the only position for anybody wishing to appear educated, contemporary and urbane. Atheism is hip, religion is boring. Yet when one pokes at popular atheism, many of the arguments used to prop it up quickly unravel. The Atheist Who Didn’t Exist is designed to expose some of the loose threads on the cardigan of atheism, tug a little, and see what happens. Blending humour with serious thought, Andy Bannister helps the reader question everything, assume nothing and, above all, recognise lazy skepticism and bad arguments. Be an atheist by all means: but do be a thought-through one.

    • Awesome Journey : Lifes Pilgrimage

      $14.99

Drawing on a lifetime of Christian pilgrimage, David Adam reflects on biblical encounters with the divine and offers profound insights – on grief and glory, emptiness and fulfilment; repentance and forgiveness; loving and being loved – that will transform the way we live, and the way we relate to God, here and now. For example, God’s question to Adam, ‘Where are you?’ is relevant to us all; Abraham’s long journey of hearing and obeying (and learning the art of having no agenda) is ours too; Jacob’s great discovery – that heaven is found on earth and earth is raised to heaven – helps us become aware that we often already possess what we think we’re searching for; Moses’ desert experiences of grief and glory encourage us that we journey forward to the Promised Land, while Elijah’s powerlessness reminds us that God often calls us out of darkness and weakness, for we may need stillness to hear him. Written by a best-selling author – and distinguished spiritual director – with a proven track record. Inspires in us – through Bible passages, story, poetry and meditation – a sense of awe for the journey we are on and the courage to live life in abundance. The understanding that God is ‘as pervasive and perceptible as the atmosphere in which we are bathed’ (Teilhard de Chardin) comes through in all David’s writing, and his confidence and delight in the nearness of God is surely one of the reasons his books are so popular.
