BibliographyAdditional Info
The postmodern human condition and relationship to God were forged in response to Auschwitz. Christian theology must now address the challenge posed by the Shoah. Grace in Auschwitz offers a constructive theology of grace that enables twenty-first-century Westerners to relate meaningfully to the Christian tradition in the wake of the Holocaust and unprecedented evil. Through narrative theological testimonial history, the first part articulates the human condition and relationship to God experienced by concentration camp inmates. The second part draws from the lives and works of Simone Weil, Dorothee Solle, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Alfred Delp, Hans Urs von Balthasar, and Sergei Bulgakov to propose and apply a coherent kenotic model enabling the transposition of the Christian doctrine of grace into categories strongly correlating with the experience of Auschwitz survivors. This model centers on the vulnerable Jesus Christ, a God who takes on the burden of the human condition and freely suffers alongside and for human beings. In and through the person of Jesus, God is made present and active in the midst of spiritual desolation and destitution, providing humanity and solace to others.Add to cartin stock within 3-5 days of online purchase

Grab Gather And Grow
$16.99Jim and Jen Cowart, authors of Start This, Stop That, offer a fresh strategy for developing community groups for your whole church and beyond. Harvest Church (www.harvestchurch4u.org), a young United Methodist congregation twenty miles southwest of Macon, met for seven years (on Sundays) on the move in a rented theatre. They learned about adaptive systems, digital tools, and flexible overhead. Since building a multipurpose facility on 43 acres near Warner Robins, Georgia in 2007, Harvest Church applied what they learned about mobility and sustained rapid growth to 2700 in worship attendance, with seven weekend services. They dispensed with a typical education wing (at significant cost savings) and classrooms in favor of four multipurpose rooms. They adapted a community groups strategy, which meets primarily in homes. Over 18 months they have expanded from 76 community groups to over 250 community groups. In this leadership book, Jen and Jim offer a five-part method for transforming a congregation through launching community groups. Community groups become a multiplication strategy because they nurture an urgent expectation outside the congregation to share the good news with persons not yet professing faith, while creating a well defined path for growth in discipleship. The book will include the following themes: Group Explosion – New Strategy for 100% plus group participation Overcoming Obstacles – Structuring for Maximum Growth vs Control – Crowd to Core Group Growth The Power of the Pulpit – This system is driven from the stage Living the 5 through Group Life – How the CG lives into Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry, Evangelism, and Worship Creating Infrastructure for Facilitators

Pursuing Health In An Anxious Age
$22.50It’s easy to think that our personal health is something we can control, especially as our society makes advances in medical technology and increased access to health care. Simply put, we have made an idol out of physical wellness, evidenced by the exploding cost of health care and the health-related anxiety that so often characterizes our society. In Pursuing Health in an Anxious Age, Dr. Bob Cutillo-a doctor with decades of medical and teaching experience-helps us to think biblically and theologically about what it means to be well. By helping us accept the limitations of our bodies and see wellness as a gift from God, Cutillo offers a more hopeful and just approach to pursuing health for ourselves and for others.

Issues In Contextualization
$29.40The gospel is to be planted as a seed that will sprout within and be nourished by the rain and nutrients in the cultural soil of the receiving peoples. What sprouts from true gospel seed may look quite different above ground from the way it looked in the sending society, but beneath the ground, at the worldview level, the roots are to be the same and the life comes from the same source. What does a vibrant indigenous faith in Jesus look like? How do we communicate the essential meanings of the gospel in forms appropriate to a particular people at a particular time?
Issues in Contextualization, Charles Kraft’s latest book, presents his own insights on this topic from decades of experience teaching and ministering around the world. Significantly, Kraft’s analysis includes and exploration of spiritual power, an aspect frequently neglected in such discussions. This volume is an update of Kraft’s classic work Appropriate Christianity. It contains fresh presentations of previous articles and new insights into topics such as insiders (followers of Jesus outside the religious culture of Christianity) and power encounter.

Mission In Motion
$31.75This book represents an historic and unprecedented piece of research. The research project took nearly ten years to complete from start to finish. It is not a longitudinal study but rather a snapshot in time, which took far longer to process than it did to take. Nevertheless, the picture that developed was well worth the wait. Our hope is that this work will remain relevant for many years to come and promote much discussion and interest to foster more effective mission involvement.
As confirmation of the contemporary relevance of our project, while we were writing this book two localized studies were undertaken to investigate mission involvement in their contexts. How Australian Missionaries Are Being Called and Choose Mission Agencies (Hibbert, Hibbert, and Silberman, 2015) was researched in Sydney, Australia. Mobilizing More Missionaries: Insights from Surveys of Long-termers and Prospective Missionaries (McVay and Parrott, 2015) was the result of an online survey of 466 long-term missionaries from forty-six agencies undertaken in the United States.

Additional Info
A New Christian Zionism? Can a theological case be made from the New Testament (with the Old) that Israel still has a claim to the Promised Land? Christian Zionism is often seen as the offspring of premillennial dispensationalism. However, the historical roots of Christian Zionism came long before the rise of the Plymouth Brethren and John Nelson Darby. In fact, the authors of The New Christian Zionism contend that the biblical and theological connections between covenant and land are nearly as close in the New Testament as in the Old. Written with academic rigor by experts in the field, this book proposes how Zionism can be defended historically, theologically, politically and morally. While this does not sanctify every policy and practice of the current Israeli government, the authors include recommendations for how twenty-first-century Christian theology should rethink its understanding of both ancient and contemporary Israel, the Bible and Christian theology more broadly. This provocative volume proposes a place for Christian Zionism in an integrated biblical vision,.Add to cartin stock within 3-5 days of online purchase

The walls between us seem impenetrable. We live in an age of strife and division. Factors like race, class, values and lifestyles keep us from connecting with others in meaningful ways. It’s easier to avoid or ignore people who make us uncomfortable or who we just do not like. But God’s call to the church is to do just the opposite. Leroy Barber has spent decades pursuing reconciliation and justice amongst groups of vastly diverse people. He knows the challenge of embracing those who are difficult to embrace, yet he advocates that the way to radical shalom on earth is through pursuing these relationships. We have the opportunity as the people of God to bring true peace and unity to a world that desperately needs it. Embrace the challenge to show a divided world the bridge-building power of God’s love.Add to cartin stock within 3-5 days of online purchase

Many church leaders, yearning for church growth, look to the latest evangelistic strategies or seeker-targeted worship services. But lack of growth might not be due to lack of concern for new people-it may be because we are not effectively discipling the people we already have.Greg Ogden address the need for discipleship in the local church and recovers Jesus’ method of accomplishing life change by investing in just a few people at a time. Ogden sets forth his vision for transforming both the individual disciple and discipleship itself, showing how discipleship can become a self-replicating process with ongoing impact from generation to generation.

Ministerio Con Proposito Para – (Spanish)
* A quienes intentamos alcanzar?

Calling In Todays World
$28.99Comparative religious insights into the meaning of vocation
The concept of “vocation” or “calling” is a distinctively Christian concern, grounded in the long-held belief that we find our meaning, purpose, and fulfillment in God. But what about religions other than Christianity? What does it mean for someone from another faith tradition to understand calling or vocation?
In this book contributors with expertise in Catholic and Protestant Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism and Daoism, and secular humanism explore the idea of calling in these various faith traditions. The contributors each search their respective tradition’s sacred texts, key figures, practices, and concepts for wisdom on the meaning of vocation. By seeking comparative insights from diverse faith traditions, say Kathleen Cahalan and Douglas Schuurman, we can all increase and improve our efforts to build a better, more humane world.

For The Glory Of God
$49.41Current discussions about worship are often driven by pragmatics and personal preferences rather than by the teaching of Scripture. True worship, however, is our response to God’s gracious revelation; in order to be acceptable to God, worship must be experienced on God’s terms.Respected Old Testament scholar Daniel Block examines worship in the Bible, offering a comprehensive biblical foundation and illuminating Old Testament worship practices and principles. He develops a theology of worship that is consistent with the teachings of Scripture and is applicable for the church today. He also introduces readers to a wide range of issues related to worship. The book, illustrated with diagrams, charts, and pictures, will benefit professors and students in worship and Bible courses, pastors, and church leaders.

Washed And Waiting (Expanded)
$16.99“Gay,” “Christian,” and “celibate” don’t often appear in the same sentence. Yet many who sit next to us in the pew at church fit that description, says author Wesley Hill. As a celibate gay Christian, Hill gives us a glimpse of what it looks like to wrestle firsthand with God’s “No” to same-sex relationships. What does it mean for gay Christians to live faithful to God while struggling with the challenge of their homosexuality? What is God’s will for believers who experience same-sex desires? Those who choose celibacy are often left to deal with loneliness and the hunger for relationships. How can gay Christians experience God’s favor and blessing in the midst of a struggle that for many brings a crippling sense of shame and guilt? Weaving together reflections from his own life and the lives of other Christians, such as Henri Nouwen and Gerard Manley Hopkins, Hill offers a fresh perspective on these questions. He advocates neither unqualified “healing” for those who struggle, nor their accommodation to temptation, but rather faithfulness in the midst of brokenness. “I hope this book may encourage other homosexual Christians to take the risky step of opening up their lives to others in the body of Christ,” Hill writes. “In so doing, they may find, as I have, by grace, that being known is spiritually healthier than remaining behind closed doors, that the light is better than the darkness.” This updated and expanded edition of the original book includes an additional chapter that continues Wesley’s story and further reflections on spiritual friendships and how the church can be a more welcoming place for those who choose to embrace a celibate calling.

Liberating Sexuality : Justice Between The Sheets
$28.99For two thousand years, Christianity has been wrong about sex. To this day Christians grapple with defining gender, sexism, heterosexism, and what constitutes healthy sex. Miguel A. De La Torre–noted ethicist and scholar on the intersection of religion with race, class, gender, and sexuality–shines new light on these intimate issues in Liberating Sexuality, a provocative compilation of his writings that apply justice to the most private parts of our lives.
Grounded in biblical scholarship, Liberating Sexuality will help you discover new ways of thinking about God beyond gender, heterosexism, masturbation, and many other topics. Wrestle with controversial topics such as an androgynous Jesus, ethical S&M, and confronting racism in one’s sexual preference. Gain a critical understanding of how others view their own sexuality in ways you could never before comprehend.

Walking With God (Revised)
$19.99Do you feel disconnected from your faith? Are you hoping to grow your relationship with God? Join New York Times bestselling author John Eldredge as he shares what it’s like to truly start Walking with God.
In Walking with God, Eldredge teaches us that creating a dialogue with God is the single most life-changing habit we can adopt because it brings us back to our source of life. But why is it that most of us have never been taught how to have a conversation with our Creator?
In this revised and updated edition of his classic Walking with God, Eldredge opens his personal journals to tell a year’s worth of stories about walking and talking with the Lord.
Walking with God follows Eldredge’s own journey to growing closer to the Lord through all four seasons:
*Summer: a time of restoration and renewal, and for finding our way back to joy
*Fall: a season of struggle, but then breakthrough and discovery
*Winter: finding God in our losses, in the mundane, and sustaining our hearts over what can feel like the long path of obedience
*Spring: a time of resurrection, recovered hope and desire, a time of new beginnings
Walking with God reminds us that it is our deepest need, as human beings, to learn to live intimately with God. If you’re ready to recover this part of your life, let Walking with God be your guide along the way.

Killing Lions : A Guide Through The Trials Young Men Face
$19.99The Challenge Before You Is a Bold One: To Accept the Wild, Daring Adventure of Becoming a Man
We want to be self-sufficient. Find our own direction as we pursue our dreams. Know it all and never ask for help. Isn’t this how most guys approach manhood? On our own, pretending we are doing better than we really are? But sooner or later the thrill of independence gets lost in the fog of isolation.
It’s time to take the pressure off. We were never meant to figure life out on our own.
This book was born out of a series of weekly phone calls between Sam Eldredge, a young writer in his twenties, and his dad, best-selling author John Eldredge. Join the conversation as a father and son talk about pursuing beauty, dealing with money, getting married, chasing dreams, knowing something real with God, and how to find a life you can call your own.
Killing Lions is more than fatherly advice. It is an invitation into a journey: either to be the son who receives fathering or the father who learns what must be spoken. Most important, these conversations speak to a searching generation: “You are not alone. Its not all up to you. You are going to find your way.”

From Footmen To Horsemen
$19.99Dr. James Brewton has described in detail here a process or progression in spiritual maturity, from salvation to discipleship to leadership. Anyone who has ever served on a sports team, a corporate team, or in the military, knows that teamwork requires discipline, focused effort, humility, honor, respect for authority and character development. It is no different in living life as a Christian. It’s time to become the army of God and the bride of Christ, not just the body of Christ. Make yourself ready Church. You are God’s answer and solution and wisdom to the world’s woes. It’s time to shine even brighter as the darkness increases.
It’s not too late Church! Both the world and the Kingdom of God need and deserve your best. Jesus set the example, and modeled transformation for us. He purchased our freedom and redemption and victory and inheritance with His own blood, and His own life. He gave His best; we can do no less. The Church is God’s only plan for the earth; there is no Plan B. We have everything we need to get the job done, so it’s time to stop making excuses and feeling sorry for ourselves. As warriors and championship-winning teams know, the best defense is a good offense. It’s time the Church plays offense again.

If tomorrow were your last day here, what would you teach your children? Every parent, as life goes on, has learned some lesson that would help his children to live a successful life, if they only knew.
Dr. Sixto Porras, through his experiences with parent-child relationships, has discovered a unique truth: Even when parents are good role models and educate their children faithfully, they rarely consider imprinting their children with the life lessons that shaped their characters for good and helped them to live better. Life experiences that turned into wisdom are exactly the lessons your children need to learn in order to conquer life. That is real life wisdom; they should not miss it. Sixto Porras challenges you to ask yourself: What should you teach your children about life to ensure they will live successfully? What are the lessons you cannot afford not to share with them?
