Acts : The Spread Of The Gospel
$14.99Luke wrote the book of Acts as a testament to the explosive spread of the gospel and the rapid growth of the church after Christ’s ascension. Beginning with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost when the church was born, he shows how Christ empowered His followers with divine authority to preach the gospel to all nations. Luke also shows how, even in the midst of persecution and opposition, the early believers were able to rely on God’s spirit for direction and continue with the work He had given them to do. God showed His infinite power regardless of the circumstances, just as He continues to do today.
The MacArthur Bible Studies provide intriguing examinations of the whole of Scripture. Each guide incorporates extensive commentary, detailed observations on overriding themes, and probing questions to help you study the Word of God with guidance from John MacArthur.

Locating Atonement : Explorations In Constructive Dogmatics
$26.99The proceedings of the third annual Los Angeles Theology Conference seek to identify the place of the doctrine of atonement in systematic theology. Locating Atonement: Explorations in Constructive Dogmatics intentionally excludes discussion of theories of atonement, typologies of those theories, and contests among various theories. Solomons Treasure 2nd Edition
$19.99God once asked King Solomon, “What shall I give thee?” Solomon could have asked for anything-riches, long life, endless joy-but instead, he simply asked for discernment between good and evil. Impressed by Solomon’s foresight, God additionally granted him a wise and understanding heart, which is why the name Solomon is now synonymous with wisdom. “Solomon’s Treasure: Uncover the Ancient Paths,” makes use of the Book of Proverbs, God’s gift to a wise king. It is a practical guide bringing ancient wisdom into modern times, fully applicable in your day-to-day life. It covers ninety-seven key topics from Proverbs, including anger, compassion, revenge, and forgiveness. The source material is three thousand years old, but the advice found in it is timeless and relevant even today. As Christians, it is easy to get distracted and wander from the path. Even so, a life lived well begins with a single step; often that step is simple awareness. Are you ready to take that first step? “Solomon’s Treasure” offers an opportunity to see clearly the rights and wrongs of a Christian life in an informative, easy-to-understand guidebook leading to a path of wisdom and fulfillment.

51 Percent Christian
$28.31God is not an idea. Christian faith is not a set of propositions you either believe or reject. According to a proper Trinitarian understanding, God is essentially relationship, a relationship of sheer, active, ecstatic, self-giving love. If we truly are encountered by this magnificent love of the Trinity, then faith becomes a living and active daily practice. Just like a healthy marriage or a close and loyal friendship, it becomes something you choose every day.
This “51% Christian” moniker is a ridiculous label with a deadly serious point. You now have permission to doubt, to question, to get angry at God. But, in the end, it’s not about you. Faith is about relationship: a living, daily relationship, based on trust, and active in concrete, daily practices.
With this sort of freedom in grace, Stenberg takes a fresh new look at theology, thirteen topics that, one by one, examine the best of what the Bible and the history of Christian practitioners have to say. Looking through this grace-based, radically relational lens, the author offers a lively and engaging discussion of topics such as creation, violence, love, death, heaven, and hell. You might not always agree. But you will not be bored.

Making Love With Scripture
$28.31Nothing has been more contentious in the history of Christianity than the meaning of the Bible, and that debate continues today. Arguments over scripture have divided denominations, churches, and families, and these squabbles have led many to abandon the faith altogether. Jacob D. Myers, a rising young scholar, has a solution to the problem with scripture. The instability of the Bible’s meaning, he argues, is not a weakness but a strength, and it can benefit conservatives and liberals alike.
In a conversational style peppered with pop culture references, Myers provides a variety of tools for readers of the Bible, helping the experienced and inexperienced alike appreciate the sacred text in new ways. Finally, he proposes the intriguing alternative of an “erotic” interpretation, one that makes love with the Bible and opens new vistas of understanding.

Executed God : The Way Of The Cross In Lockdown America – Second Edition Re (Exp
$81.66The new edition of Mark Lewis Taylor’s award-winning The Executed God is both a searing indictment of the structures of “Lockdown America” and a visionary statement of hope. It is also a call for action to Jesus followers to resist US imperial projects and power. Outlining a “theatrics of state terror,” Taylor identifies and analyzes its instruments-mass incarceration, militarized police tactics, surveillance, torture, immigrant repression, and capital punishment-through which a racist and corporatized Lockdown America enforces in the US a global neoliberal economic and political imperialism. Against this, The Executed God proposes a “counter-theatrics to state terror,” a declamation of the way of the cross for Jesus followers that unmasks the powers of US state domination and enacts an adversarial politics of resistance, artful dramatic actions, and the building of peoples’ movements. These are all intrinsic to a Christian politics of remembrance of the Jesus executed by empire. Heralded in its first edition, this new edition is thoroughly revised, updated, and expanded, offering a demanding rethinking and recreating of what being a Christian is and of how Christianity should dream, hope, mobilize, and act to bring about what Taylor terms “a liberating material spirituality” to unseat the state that kills.

Wisdom Of Father Brown
$17.00“Wherever you find men ruled merely by mystery, it is the mystery of iniquity. If the devil tells you something is too fearful to look at, look at it. If he says something is too terrible to hear, hear it. If you think some truth unbearable, bear it.”
G. K. Chesterton
The Wisdom of Father Brown, “The Purple Wig”In G. K. Chesterton’s 1914 sequel to “The Innocence of Father Brown,” we find the tenacious little priest hounding thieves, traitors, and killers throughout England, and even to France and Italy. Here are twelve more cases featuring Father Brown, a priest turned detective who combines philosophical and spiritual reasoning with scientific observation to solve crimes. In these long-cherished tales, Chesterton laid the foundation for future detective figures in literature, such as Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, Ellery Queen, and Nero Wolfe.
Unlike other writers of his time, who concocted outlandish crimes and intricate puzzles for the protagonist to solve, Chesterton pioneered the cozy mystery, narrowing the scope of the investigation to limited time, limited space, and a limited number of suspects, with all of the clues revealed to the reader, as well as to the detective.
Chesterton is highly regarded as a biting social commentator, and his humorous and insightful comparisons leave readers reeling. The tales in this collection are short, easy reads with strong plots, all connected by the clever cleric’s intuitive understanding of the dark side of human nature.

1 God One Lord Third Edition
$61.58A T&T Clark Title
The book has taken its place among works on Jesus as one consistently cited, consistently read, and consistently examined in scholarly discourse.
Hurtado examines the early cultic devotion to Jesus through a range of Jewish sources. Hurtado outlines an early ‘high’ Christological theology, showing how the Christ of faith emerges from monotheistic Judaism. The book has already found a home on the shelves of many in its two previous editions. In this new Cornerstones edition Hurtado provides a substantial epilogue of some twenty-thousand words, which brings this ground-breaking work to the fore once more, in a format accessible to scholars and students alike.

Documents And Images For The Study Of The Gospels (Revised)
$61.25Since its first appearance in 1980, Documents for the Study of the Gospels has been a welcome and highly regarded sourcebook for the study of the historical environment of the Gospels, introducing religious, philosophical, and literary texts comparable to various aspects of the Gospels and illuminating their genre and the subgenres included in them. In this edition, David R. Cartlidge has added new discoveries (including the Gospel of Mary Magdala and the Gospel of Judas) and previously known texts from the Greco-Roman world that shed light on the Gospels (including Augustus’s Res Gestae). He has updated introductions to texts throughout the book in light of contemporary scholarship and illustrated the texts with a rich repertoire of images from the ancient world and from the cultural reception of the Gospels through centuries of Christian interpretation. The result is an inviting and intriguing treasure that will enrich every student’s appreciation of the New Testament Gospels and early Christianity.

Angry Like Jesus
$36.25Few people realize that the Gospels include at least fifteen different stories about Jesus’ anger. When was Jesus angry? What was He angry about? Is Jesus’ anger relevant today? Is it right for a Christian to be angry? Although sinful anger cannot achieve the righteousness of God, godly anger can rouse a sleeping church. Godly anger lights a flame that fuels people to wake up and be truthful out loud, so that many (who don’t expect it) can be healed. Godly anger is powerful. It’s an aspect of real love. It ushers in true hope because it knows that God is faithful. It dares to take a risk because it trusts that God has its back.
Without the salt of Jesus’ anger, people accept what’s unacceptable. We allow what we shouldn’t allow. We don’t make changes we should make. We deceive ourselves into thinking that corruption doesn’t need to be opposed. Godly anger is not afraid. It assumes responsibility. It motivates us to confront things we wish did not exist. Jesus’ anger is God’s gift to help deliver us.

God Unseen : A Theological Introduction To Esther
$18.73Preachers and commentators often focus on Esther as a story of divine providence. Many go so far as to say that the absence of any mention of God in Esther is proof of his presence-a tenuous foundation upon which to build a case! GOD UNSEEN argues that Esther is indeed intended to be read in a religious context and that it does speak to God’s providence, but shows this by a careful comparison of the text of Esther with many other Old Testament narratives that it echoes, thus setting it squarely in a canonical context. The result of such a contextual reading will give credence to the belief that God should be seen in those silences. Esther closely parallels life in 21st-century western culture. It tells the story of people who know how to be righteous followers of God, but who are surrounded by a world of paganism and, far too often, find themselves assimilating rather than standing apart. The characters receive no special revelation from God, nor does he seem to be present at all in their lives. Many Christians today live under a similar set of circumstances, so its message is vital. GOD UNSEEN’s argument that the book of Esther is religious and that God is present in the narrative will help give practical shape to modern questions of what it means to live during the apparent silence of God.

Our Program : A Christian Political Manifesto
$49.99Lexham Press is pleased to announce the publication of a major series of new translations of Kuyper’s most important writings. Created in partnership with the Kuyper Translation Society and the Acton Institute, the Abraham Kuyper Collected Works in Public Theology will mark a historic moment in Kuyper studies, and we hope it will deepen and enrich the church’s development of public theology.
In Our Program, Kuyper makes a comprehensive effort to engage the secular politics of his day with a Christian alternative. In an era where the church usually either controlled or was controlled by the state, Kuyper showed that it was possible to frame a political program where church and state engage each other but remain separate. Though bound to its time, Our Program is timely for Christians looking for examples of faith working in the political sphere.

Refuse To Stay Broken

Christina Stokesbury is a wife, mother, successful business owner, and faithful follower of Jesus Christ. She has experienced the depths of brokenness and the beautiful art of God’s healing power. Refuse to Stay Broken: A True Story of God’s Redeeming Grace was written for those who have experienced brokenness in life. From the Author: It is so easy to find ourselves in a whirlwind of hurt, anger, un-forgiveness, frustration, or guilt, but no matter the fault, we have redemption through God’s grace. One thing I have seen during my own journey is that no matter the offense, God is greater. He can take what once was bad and turn it into His beautiful glory. Even our loss and pain can be turned into beauty, but there is only one way to make that happen. I felt called to write this book so that healing can take place in the lives of others. It is my prayer the readers will see my own walk and understand that sin held me captive until God redeemed me into something greater than what I had for myself. “If you have ever experienced a struggle in your life, this book is for you. For Better Or For Verse
$13.26So tiny and helpless, so sweet and so mild,
so dependent and loving-this beautiful child.
A gem, a jewel, a precious pearl-
such a wonderful gift, this little girl.
I can reduce any man to a weeping pile,
but all it takes is that little smile,
and now I’m mush …-Tom Gusky
Tom Gusky does not believe in fifty dollar words or mysterious hidden messages in his poetry. Instead, he prefers to share a tender and sometimes tongue-in-cheek lyrical view of life that reflects on the bonds of family love, the trials and joys of raising children, and the experiences that draw all of us closer to God.
Tom injects humor and emotion in poems for the masses that reflect on his observations about the pilot of his family’s ship as well as an angel in diapers, the face of God, the cycle of life, and the journey of a man as he ages. Throughout each verse, Tom offers gentle reminders about the important things in life: faith, family, and unconditional love.
For Better or for Verse shares a collection of thought-provoking poetry as one man looks back on all the joys and sorrows of a life well lived.

Creation : The Apple Of Gods Eye
$16.99How and why God loves us-God’s good creation This book will talk about the doctrine of creation and invite us to look closely at who God is and who we are in relationship with God. As people of faith, we believe that our gracious God created all there is, but does that also mean that God also created evil? How does creation jive with what scientists are telling us about the origin of the universe? What does the doctrine of creation tell us about what we call “the creation,” that is, the world, its value, purpose, etc? How does understanding the world as God’s creation teach us about our role in creation care? The Bible tells us that God created the heavens and earth, but does that deny the science of the Big Bang? What does believing that God is the Creator say about how God loves, redeems, and sustains us today or does creation say something only about the past? What about the “new creation”? Does this have anything to do with the old creation? Does it mean simply that God is so tired of the rebelliousness of creation that it seems best to erase the present one and start anew? Or is there a connection between the two? What does the doctrine of creation say about us? Aren’t we created in God’s image and aren’t we part of the good creation of a loving God? If so, why is there evil and rebelliousness in us? Where does our ill-will, our desire to do evil, come from? Is there freedom of the will or are all things preordained by God? Just how detailed is God’s plan for us? While no one author can deal with all these questions, this book will help us begin the conversation and gain new understanding of how the doctrine of creation can help us address these very human and timeless questions. Series Description: Belief Matters: How to Love God with Your Mind is a series of books written by widely recognized authors who will help readers think more clearly about their faith and better understand their beliefs, so that they can live more faithfully. Why Mission
$35.99Recent years have seen heightened efforts at reading the New Testament in terms of God’s mission. This has pressed against commitments to a dispassionate reading of the New Testament books in favor of a self-involved, missiological reading. This book harvests recent efforts as well as extends the conversation by an approach that takes seriously the contribution of diverse New Testament voices. This book contributes to New Testament studies, but also serves related discussions in missiology and evangelism. Reframing New Testament Theology is a series that fulfills the need for brief, substantive, yet highly accessible introductions to central questions and themes raised by study of the New Testament. A significant defining question will serve as the point of departure and will frame the discussion. Students will be drawn into an active, theological engagement with the New Testament and related materials by the subsequent analysis.

Often pastors feel like we need to project strength and competency in order to minister effectively. That’s why we go to conferences and emulate the latest superstars. But we know we can never live up to those images. Deep down, we know our own limitations, our weaknesses, our faults. We fear that if people knew who we really are, we’d be disqualified from ministry. Not so. Mandy Smith unpacks the biblical paradox that God’s strength is revealed through our human weakness. Transparently describing her pastoral journey, Smith shows how vulnerability shapes ministry, through our spiritual practices and relationships, influencing our preaching, teaching and even the nuts and bolts of the daily schedule. Understanding our human constraints makes our ministry more sustainable and guards us against disillusionment and burnout. We don’t have to have it all together. Recognizing our weakness makes us rely on God, so our weakness can become a ministry resource. God has called you to lead not as a demigod, but as a human, so the world can see that the church is a place for humans like them.Add to cartin stock within 3-5 days of online purchase

“Who shall ascend the mountain of the LORD?” ?Psalm 24:3 In many ways, this is the fundamental question of Old Testament Israel’s cult?and, indeed, of life itself. How can creatures made from dust become members of God’s household, “forever”? The question of ascending God’s mountain to his house was likely recited by pilgrims on approaching the temple on Mount Zion during the annual festivals. This entrance liturgy runs as an undercurrent throughout the Pentateuch and is at the heart of its central book, Leviticus. Its dominating concern, as well as that of the rest of the Bible, is the way in which humanity may come to dwell with God. Israel’s deepest hope was not merely a liturgical question, but a historical quest. Under the Mosaic covenant, the way opened up by God was through the Levitical cult of the tabernacle and later temple, its priesthood and rituals. The advent of Christ would open up a new and living way into the house of God?indeed, that was the goal of his taking our humanity upon himself, his suffering, his resurrection and ascension. In this stimulating volume in the New Studies in Biblical Theology, Michael Morales explores the narrative context, literary structure and theology of Leviticus. He follows its dramatic movement, examines the tabernacle cult and the Day of Atonement, and tracks the development from Sinai’s tabernacle to Zion’s temple?and from the earthly to the heavenly Mount Zion in the New Testament. He shows how life with God in the house of God was the original goal of the creation of the cosmos, and became the goal of redemption and the new creation. Addressing key issues in biblical theology, the works comprising New Studies in Biblical Theology are creative attempts to help Christians better understand their Bibles. The NSBT series is edited by D. A. Carson, aiming to simultaneously instruct and to edify, to interact with current scholarship and to point the way ahead.Add to cartin stock within 3-5 days of online purchase

Proverbs
$49.99In this commentary Ernest Lucas takes a unique “cluster” approach to the book of Proverbs, studying it thematically and showing how it speaks to such issues as character formation, gender relations, wealth and poverty, interpersonal communication, science and religion, and care for the environment.
After an introduction discussing the authorship, date, structure, ancient Near Eastern context, and literary forms of Proverbs, Lucas provides critical exegesis of the biblical text in his section-by-section commentary. He identifies “proverbial clusters” and uses them as the basis for interpreting individual proverbs. Several substantial theological essays in a concluding section illuminate major ethical, pastoral, and spiritual themes in Proverbs.
Ably unpacking the rich wisdom embedded in the book of Proverbs, Lucas has written a succinct, accessible theological commentary perfect for pastors, teachers, and students.
