Journey To Biblical Masculinity

*live with purpose, clarity, integrity, and boldnessBiblical masculinity is not toxic. It is modeled in the life of Jesus Christ. It’s what our world needs. Calvin For The World
$83.31John Calvin was arguably the most influential of the sixteenth-century Reformers. His supporters praise his transformative influence on the ecclesial, political, and economic spheres of modern life, while his detractors paint him as a ruthless proponent of theocracy. These conflicting images suggest there is more to Calvin than meets the eye.
In Calvin for the World, Ruben Rosario Rodriguez offers a creative engagement with Calvin’s theological and political thought and a critical reclamation of the Reformer’s legacy. Rosario Rodriguez presents Calvin’s theology in historical context and explores his global impact by examining his views on a broad range of social and cultural issues, including those that pertain to political theology, migration and dislocation, nationalism, social welfare policies, revolution, racism, and religious pluralism. This book shows how Calvin’s theological legacy impacted the formation of the modern world, its worldview, and its social institutions and presents Calvin as an engaging interlocutor on contemporary matters of social, political, racial, and economic justice.
This book will be ideal for professors and students of theology for use in courses on Calvin, the Reformation, and church history. It will also be of interest to pastors and church leaders.

Womanish Theology : Discovering God Through The Lens Of Black Girlhood
$66.65Khristi Lauren Adams’s faith was first shaped by her experiences as a Black girl–learning about Scripture from her grandmother, Mama Hattie; “playing church” with her seven cousins over summer vacation; and grieving the murder of her sixteen-year-old friend when she was just fifteen.
In Womanish Theology, Adams reflects on those experiences, inviting readers to learn from a new perspective and guiding them to a deeper understanding of their own spirituality.
This groundbreaking book introduces a new branch of theological thought Adams calls womanish, as a play on the womanist tradition (the theology of Black womanhood). “Womanish,” remembers Adams, is a term Black mothers used for young girls as they grew more interested in doing grown-up things. Adams draws on her own life story as well as the life stories of other Black girls to explore theological concepts such as Scripture, theodicy, salvation, prayer, neighborly love, and the image of God.
Through this journey, readers will learn that theology is for everyone and that the whole community of God can learn from the spiritual insights of Black girls.

Ecumenical Field Guide To Fresh Expressions
$28.99Learn the essentials of fresh expressions for your church.
An Ecumenical Field Guide for Fresh Expressions is a practical manual for understanding and implementing Fresh Expressions for a church in any denominational setting.
The Fresh Expressions movement is a new way of thinking about the local church and a new way of doing church as a congregation. It refers to new (fresh) iterations or types (expressions) of ministry, usually outside the confines of the church building. These iterations or types of ministries are formed intentionally but organically out in the community, where people are. They are based on shared activities or interests, where people are gathering already, and where the people are open to or interested in learning about Jesus. Christian people share their own stories of how Jesus is part of their lives. Often, these gatherings become regular and increasingly begin to adopt the practices of a church community, like worship, service, study, and giving. Thus, they become fresh expressions of the church from which they sprang.

Signal Fire : A Guide To Putting Prayer Into Practice
$15.99Prayer is the key to knowing and communicating with God, unlocking a lifelong faith and being the primary bedrock of Christian faith.
Signal Fire explores the myriad of different ways in which we can connect with God, both together and alone. This handy guide provides opportunities to try out different aspects of prayer, equipping young people with a prayer life of their own.
Prayer is a refuge in times when everything else is failing; it’s a compass when we’re lost and a firework when we’re joy-struck. Prayer is the subject of a thousand distinct metaphors, and they’re all both true and insufficient. Why? Because prayer is direct connection with God, and the pathway to making sense of life itself.
Signal Fire encourages young people to develop a life of prayer and connection with God and invest in this key practice of lasting faith. Martin Saunders, Director of Innovation at Youthscape, writes an accessible and practical book for teenagers with some points for reflection and discussion at the end of each chapter.
This book can be used alone by a young person or used by youth workers to work through with a group.

*fuimos creados para reinar con Cristo;
*Dios ha hecho y cumplira sus promesas
*el cielo tiene un calendario; y
*a los hijos de Dios les espera una era dorada, el milenio.En un mundo lleno de tensiones politicas, pruebas personales y turbulencias internacionales, nos sentimos atraidos por explorar que ocurre a continuacion en la linea temporal del cielo. Tanto si los lectores se encuentran en el bando de “no puedo esperar”, “estoy casi preparado” o “no estoy seguro de todo esto”, se sentiran animados a reflexionar sobre los planes y promesas de Dios para el futuro. Con el caracteristico estilo alentador de Max, nos recuerda: “Todo es cuestion de esperanza. Todo gira en torno a El”.
What Happens Next
Are we living in the end times? If so, what does that mean for me? Max Lucado’s optimistic, accessible, and non-sensational guide to what the Bible says about heaven’s timeline will empower readers to face the future with faith.
Seven years of chaos called the Tribulation. A cruel and cunning Antichrist. The dreaded battle of Armageddon. These images and ideas associated with prophecy can be stimulating but also unnecessarily scary. Max Lucado believes God wants us to be prepared, not scared. In his first book exploring the end of this age, Max provides a wise, well-researched, and reassuring overview of what God’s Word has to say on a topic that often creates confusion and anxiety.
In What Happens Next Max explores four big ideas that will prov

Woven : Nurturing A Faith Your Kid Doesn’t Have To Heal From
$18.99In this inspiring parenting book, learn how to create space for your children to get to know God in a way that focuses on trust instead of a list of rigid rules.
Most Christian parenting books are ready with exact practices every family should follow in order to raise obedient children. In this obedience-training model, faith is a wall, constructed brick by brick, as adults tell children what to believe and how to behave.
But what if obedience is not the goal of Christian parenting? What if it’s our job as parents to instead help our kids get to know God and discover that God can be trusted? And what if faith is not constructed brick by brick, but rather woven strand by strand?
Much like a spider’s web, in which anchor strands and internal threads combine to form a unique web, Woven can help children anchor to who God is and have faith practices that are rich, textured, and all their own. Kids need space to explore the Bible, ask big questions, and even change their understanding of God and faith along the way. With Woven, families can nurture the kind of faith that can flex and grow, be broken and repaired. This is the sort of faith that can stand up to the life a child will live, the doubts they will encounter, and the questions that will come up along the way.
So many parents want to pass along their faith, but know that God is so much bigger than the list of do’s and don’ts they were taught about as children. They want to pass along a faith their child doesn’t have to heal from. Woven is the guidebook parents have been looking for. With a deep reverence for scripture and suggested activities to help your family grow in faith together, Woven is for parents who want to go beyond a list of do’s and don’ts and pass along a resilient faith based on genuine love for and trust in God.

Prophets Beyond Activism
$30.00Prophets beyond Activism insightfully challenges the common progressive narrative that the prophets of ancient Israel were primarily concerned with social justice. Instead it daringly offers more life-giving ways of engaging the prophetic books for the causes of justice.
The assumption that the prophets of ancient Israel were primarily concerned with social justice so permeates the thinking and the discourse of progressive Christianity that it might be considered an interpretive orthodoxy. For example, progressives characterize prophets as those who speak truth to power and “prophetic preaching” as social critique. Yet, they often do so without explanation or consideration of alternative views.
In this volume, Julia O’Brien challenges the notion that the prophets were solely concerned with the same issues as contemporary social justice movements. Reading prophetic texts with an eye to their historical dimensions-when they were written, how they were edited-complicates any definitive statement about the role of prophets in the past. Reading alongside readers from diverse racial, gender, and other social locations in the present raises hard questions about whose justice these books actually promote. Despite its self-presentation as a scholarly and scientific viewpoint, the “prophets as social activists” orthodoxy was constructed in a particular time and place and in its usage today perpetuates many of the problematic ideologies of its origins. In response to these concerns, O’Brien offers alternative readings of the prophets for the sake of justice. Chapters explore the value of Amos and Micah for contemporary economic ethics; the dynamics of inclusivity and exclusivity in Isaiah; opportunities for reading Jeremiah as the voice of a community rather than a solitary figure; and the limits of Second Isaiah’s creation theology for addressing the climate crisis.
This is a wide-ranging volume, interweaving careful readings of biblical texts within their literary and historical contexts, the history of prophetic interpretation, and attentiveness to feminist, womanist, and postcolonial voices, including engagement with contemporary thought such as trauma theory and intersectional analysis of the climate crisis. Prophets beyond Activism calls readers to a more honest and humbler activism, speaking in their own voices about the demands and possibilities of justice.

What It Means To Be Protestant
$22.99These days many evangelicals are exploring the more sacramental, liturgical, and historically-conscious church traditions, including Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy. This hunger for historical rootedness is a welcome phenomenon–but unfortunately, many assume that this need can only be met outside of Protestant contexts.
In What it Means to Be Protestant, Gavin Ortlund draws from both his scholarly work in church history and his personal experience in ecumenical engagement to offer a powerful defense of the Protestant tradition. Retrieving classical Protestant texts and arguments, he exposes how many of the contemporary objections leveled against Protestants are rooted in caricature. Ultimately, he shows that historic Protestantism offers the best pathway to catholicity and historical rootedness for Christians today.
In his characteristically charitable and irenic style, Ortlund demonstrates that the 16th century Reformation represented a genuine renewal of the gospel. This does not entail that Protestantism is without faults. But because it is built upon the principle of semper reformanda (always reforming), Protestantism is capable of reforming itself according to Scripture as the ultimate authority. This scholarly and yet accessible book breaks new ground in ecumenical theology and will be a staple text in the field for many years to come.

Why Should I Pray How God Shares His Heart With Us
$6.25Have you ever felt discouraged about praying? Sometimes it feels like there are more reasons not to pray than to pray. Discouraging circumstances that haven’t changed, long-standing requests that haven’t been given a yes, boring prayer meetings the list of reasons to give up can make prayer seem more like a duty instead of a delight.
Pastor and author Scotty Smith has struggled with prayer too, but he shares how his prayer life was transformed when he learned that prayer was about talking with his heavenly Father as a dearly loved son. Prayer isn’t a spiritual duty to be performed or a spiritual vitamin to be taken. Using personal examples of how he uses Scripture to pray, Scotty Smith gives practical, encouraging guidance how prayer can transform your relationship with God and your approach to life.

Experienced family and children’s counselor Julie Lowe offers tips for discerning the nature of the concerning behavior, gives practical advice for the best ways to respond, and points parents to the wisdom from God that comes as we ask him for guidance and help. Priests Of History
$19.99How can Christians engage meaningfully with history?
In an age underpinned by the idea that life is about self-invention and fulfilment, contemporary Western culture holds that the past has little to teach us. We live in what this book terms the “Ahistoric Age,” in which we are profoundly disconnected from history.
In the attempt to appear relevant, the church often embraces this ahistoric worldview by jettisoning the historic ideas and practices of Christian formation. But this has unintended consequences, leaving Christians unmoored from history and losing the ability to grapple with its ethical complexities.
In Priests of History, Sarah Irving-Stonebraker draws upon her expertise, and her experience as an atheist who has become a Christian, to examine what history is and why it matters. If Christians can learn how to be “priests of history,” tending and keeping our past, history can help us strengthen and revive our spiritual and intellectual formation and equip us to communicate the gospel in a confused and rootless world.

Engaging Jesus With Our Senses
$24.99Jesus took on flesh–he was embodied. And the Gospels use multisensory language to reveal that his teaching, ministry, and interactions with people engaged the senses. Consider the raging storm on the Sea of Galilee, the perfume filling the house as Mary anointed Jesus’s feet, the significance of touch as Jesus healed people. Jesus even described himself in sensory terms–as the bread of life, the light of the world, the vine to whom his disciples are connected. Our physical senses are crucial to gaining knowledge of the world around us. Yet when it comes to Bible reading, we often reduce it to a mere cognitive experience, ignoring the Psalmist’s invitation to “taste and see that the Lord is good.”
This book offers a fresh way to read the Gospels with an emphasis on embodiment, focused on a life abiding in Christ. The goal is a greater, more tangible knowledge of God. Jeannine Hanger points to the importance of engaging our physical senses in Bible reading, shows an approach to doing so with an emphasis on sparking the imagination, and looks at how utilizing our primary senses plays out in reading the Gospels. Each chapter includes sensory practices and questions for personal reflection. The book includes a foreword by Grant Macaskill.
