    • Wild Grace : What Happens When Grace Happens

      $18.73

Bestselling author Max Lucado explains that if teens let God’s grace change them, shape them, and strengthen them, their lives will never be the same.

Today’s teens are being shaped by the pressures and disappointments of the world. But Max Lucado encourages them to take a close look at what can shape their hearts and their futures from the inside out-God’s grace.

As Max explains, “God’s grace has a drenching about it. A wildness about it. A whitewater, riptide, turn-you-upside-downness about it. Grace comes after you.” Wild Grace gives teens an understanding of how grace can change their lives in powerful ways, even when those lives are messed up, off track, or in trouble. Each chapter describes another miracle that happens when we allow God’s grace to work on us and through us: “Grace is God’s decision to change everything. Good-bye, earthly labels. Stupid. Unpopular. Ugly. Failure. No longer. You aren’t who they say you are. You are who He says you are. Spiritually alive. Connected to God. Amazing.” Teens will be convinced that God knew what He was doing when He made them and His grace is always there, ready to work wonders that are bigger than anything this world has to offer.

    • LEGO Principle : The Power Of Connecting To God And One Another

      $18.99

An urgent call for the people of God to return to the lost art of making disciples.

Christ’s instructions to His disciples were very clear: “Go and make disciples of all nations.” Yet, when asked for a one-word response to the question: “What is the business that the church represents,” few people can respond. Unlike Starbucks and coffee, Toyota and cars, or Rolex and watches, the church is having a hard time figuring out what its “one word” is. This book will direct people back to the mandate of Christ for His church-discipleship.

Following the lead of LEGO, a company that has been responsible for transforming the way people play, learn, think, and enjoy for more than fifty years, this book provides simple lessons showing how to disciple your city and nation one person at a time. It shows that discipleship is about connecting with God and with one another. Discipleship is relationship.

Joey includes anecdotal stories that illustrate the principles, and these stories are presented in a style that will reach every person in every pew-and those who never sit in a pew! It is relational, warm and compassionate, and organic, not program based. Best of all, it activates the reader to do what Jesus said to do-go and make disciples.

Lenten devotional by celebrated author, well known in the United States and Great Britain

Smith shows how, in the Christian mystery, love itself must be crucified and die to be reborn as the grace of communion…as love set free.

    • Christianity Without Superstition

      $25.26

A re-examination of Jesus’ way for living and what it means to be Christian

Author’s earlier works are evergreen best-sellers

Is belief in the Nicene and Apostles Creed required to be a Christian? Does science support or diminish belief in the divine? How does one live Jesus’ way in the world?

A careful study of Jesus shows that his intended legacy for us was not a set of propositional beliefs, but a way for being in the world, a way that opens us to the extraordinary opportunity of the present, a way that can convert our hurried, anxious lives into something luminous.

Our obsession with “what to believe” misses the primary message of the Bible, says McQuiston, who illustrates that the paramount message of Jesus, and even the Hebrew Scriptures, is not about what stories to believe, but how to live.

    • Gracia Guia Del Participante (Student/Study Guide) – (Spanish) (Student/Study Gu

      $12.99

      Grace.

We talk as though we understand the term. The bank gives us a grace period. The seedy politician falls from grace. Musicians speak of a grace note. We describe an actress as gracious, a dancer as graceful. We use the word for hospitals, baby girls, kings, and premeal prayers. We talk as though we know what grace means.

But do we really understand it? Have we settled for wimpy grace? It politely occupies a phrase in a hymn, fits nicely on a church sign. Never causes trouble or demands a response. When asked, “Do you believe in grace?” who could say no?

Max Lucado asks a deeper question: Have you been changed by grace? Shaped by grace? Strengthened by grace? Emboldened by grace? Softened by grace? Snatched by the nape of your neck and shaken to your senses by grace?

God’s grace has a drenching about it. A wildness about it. A white-water, riptide, turn-you-upside-downness about it. Grace comes after you. It rewires you. From insecure to God secure. From regret riddled to better-because-of-it. From afraid to die to ready to fly. Grace is the voice that calls us to change and then gives us the power to pull it off. Let’s make certain grace gets you.

    • Miracles In The Trash

      $33.26

A mother’s womb has become the most dangerous place in the world. Innocent life is not to be relegated to the trash cans of the world. In this musical, God wants to bring humanity back into the embrace of his divine love, a humanity that has boldly stepped onto the pathway of its annihilation, through the catalysts of abortion and homosexuality. Truth has the ability to change hearts and minds, and God is truth.

A beautiful, unique life is to be cherished and cared for because it is the most precious of gifts from the creative heart of God. What if Mary had aborted Jesus, the Son of God? In this play, she does and is punished by God with a life that never ends. After Jesus is aborted and has resumed his heavenly state, he is torn between the love that he has for his mother and his Father, who seeks to have his mother tried in a court of law for the murder of his Son, and thus the Church of God.

This play sets the stage for the unthinkable and unravels the answers to the controversial questions surrounding a woman’s decision to abort her miracle, a gift from the love and very heart of God. Miracles in the Trash portrays abortion from God’s perspective, and his boundless love for each individual life he has created, revealing that life begins in the heart and mind of God, and that he knows who we are before we are even conceived. Biblical references support that fact. If we believe that God is all-knowing, then it leads to only one conclusion, that he knew who we were before our mother even met our father.

      $17.99

The chasm between the biblical vision of marriage and the common human conception is-and has always been-gargantuan. Reflecting on over forty years of matrimony, John Piper exalts the biblical meaning of marriage over its emotion, exhorting couples to keep their covenant as a display of Christ’s covenant-keeping love for the church. He aims to lift the church’s low view of marriage to something infinitely greater, namely, a vision of Jesus’s unswerving allegiance to and affection for his bride. This Momentary Marriage unpacks the biblical vision, its unexpected contours, and its weighty implications for married, single, divorced, and remarried alike. Now available in paperback with a freshly redesigned cover, Piper’s book on marriage holds even greater appeal.

      $19.98

Debra Brewer decided to serve God by becoming a travel nurse in order to make something positive of her life after family devastation generated a crisis of faith. She found enjoyment in the adventure of new places and work situations. But when she decided to take an assignment on a tiny island in Alaska, a series of events began to unfold that brought healing and hope. The author, Debra Graem, wrote these stories during the long winters that she spent in Alaska after going there as a travel nurse. Although the stories are fiction, they are intended to illustrate the path of healing that actually did occur as Debra made her way through some difficult times in her life. This book is intended to display examples of the way that God fashions his children into lovely jewels that reflect the image of His Son. Sometimes this happens with hammer of dreadful events that we all face sometime in our journey. Sometimes it happens through the chipping daily grind of an ordinary routine. The lovely result pleases the Father and brings joy to the soul of the polished stone. The character in this book is a work in progress toward that goal.

      $12.99

Life gets a lot harder for Amish midwife Kristi Lapp when a buggy wreck lands her in the hospital and leaves her with a pronounced limp. Among her biggest concerns is the well-being of her dog, Chinook, as she is no longer able to keep up with the high-energy Siberian husky. Adding insult to injury, she fears she’ll never marry for love, for what man would willingly wed a woman who needs help with even the most basic of household tasks?
Shane Zimmerman moved to Seymour for a fresh start. The veterinarian is still reeling from the loss of his young wife, who died in childbirth-an aneurysm, the autopsy determined, but he still blames the midwife and the herbal remedies she administered. He meets his next-door neighbor, Kristi, when he discovers her wrecked buggy and takes her to the hospital. Eager to deepen the friendship that forms between them, he offers to take care of exercising her dog. But the harsh words of Kristi’s father discourage him from pursuing a relationship further-for the time being. Shane isn’t Amish, although his grandparents were, and Ira Lapp would rather his daughter marry an aging Amish widower than a young Englischer.

Despite all the forces that would keep them apart, Kristi and Shane can’t deny the strong attraction between them. So, their on-again, off-again relationship persists, as Kristi submits to physical therapy for her leg and Shane reevaluates his reasons for being Englisch. But will they find a way to stay together? Or are their differences too divisive to resolve?

    • My Mess Became My Message

      $33.11

In her compelling life story, My Mess Became My Message, Shalaunda “Shay” Nielsen shares the mess that once was her life in hopes that her story will be the benediction that leads someone to Christ. Once a stripper, lesbian, liar, fornicator, and adulterer, Shay lived a life that screamed “sin.” Hearts will drop as readers live through her delivering her stillborn son, witness worldly escapades, and fight demons that continue to haunt her. The same hearts will rejoice as they relive the moments where she dedicates her life to Christ, marries a man who is after God’s heart, and gives birth to her daughter. Two very different lives…lived by the same woman through the grace of God. As readers turn the pages they will watch the mess transform into a message. Shalaunda Nielsen, called Shay by those closest to her, is a wife, mother, daughter, visionary, and most importantly a woman of God. By age twenty-one Shay had seen more than most women twice her age, lived a life that paralleled the plot of an urban fiction novel, and sunk to her lowest low. She had compromised everything God intended her to stand for through lesbianism, stripping, and drug use. Yet in the midst of it all Shay felt God tugging at her heart and began to yearn for Him instead of worldly desires. She learned through a series of events that God is no shorter than His Word, and as a result today she is a sold-out Christian on a mission to allow her mess to be a message that will deliver other young women from the jaws of hell. • Rio – (Spanish)

      $16.99

“You were made for El Rio . . .”

Gabriel Clarke was mysteriously drawn to El Rio, a ribbon of frothy white water carving its way through steep canyons high in the Colorado Rockies. From deep within, Gabriel’s passion for El Rio was undeniable. The rushing waters beckoned him to experience freedom and adventure.

But something was holding him back-the memory of the terrible event he witnessed on El Rio when he was just five years old-something no child should ever see.

Chains of fear and resentment imprisoned Gabriel, keeping him from discovering the treasures of El Rio. He couldn’t leave his past behind and remained trapped, afraid of the life awaiting him.

In this compelling story, Gabriel learns that letting go of the past means giving himself totally to El Rio-heart, mind, body, and soul.

    • Desert Fathers And Mothers

      $21.99

Wisdom from the very beginnings of
Christian monasticism can become a companion on your own spiritual journey.

The desert fathers and mothers were ordinary Christians living in solitude in the deserts of Egypt, Palestine and Syria who chose to renounce the world in order to deliberately and individually follow God s call. They embraced lives of celibacy, labor, fasting, prayer, and poverty, believing that denouncing material goods and practicing stoic self-discipline would lead to unity with the Divine. Their spiritual practice formed the basis of Western monasticism and greatly influenced both Western and Eastern Christianity.

Their writings, first recorded in the fourth century, consist of spiritual advice, parables and anecdotes emphasizing the primacy of love and the purity of heart as essential to spiritual life and authentic communion with God. Focusing on key themes of charity, fortitude, lust, patience, prayer, self-control and visions, the Sayings influenced the rule of St. Benedict and have inspired centuries of opera, poetry and art.

Christine Valters Paintner, PhD, opens up wisdom of the desert fathers and mothers for readers with no previous knowledge of Western monasticism and early Christianity. She provides insightful yet unobtrusive commentary that describes historical background, explains the practice of asceticism and clarifies the ancient desert wisdom that will speak to your life today and energize your spiritual quest.

    • Andrew Paradigm : How To Be A Lead Follower Of Jesus

      $16.99

The current trend in church leadership involves looking for a highly gifted leader who will take over, direct the future, cast a vision, and attract the faithful to a new mission or purpose. This desire for a leader to come to the rescue is eerily reminiscenet of the desire of the Israelites for a king, so they could “be like every other nation.” In spite of Samuel’s warnings, the people insisted, so God reluctantly gave them King Saul. That didn’t go so well. While we always need good, new, and talented leaders, we also need leaders who know how and when to be good followers. Particularly in a culture of distrust, leadership must be granted, earned, and supported by those who are willing to follow. Leading begins with the counter-intuitive command: “Come, follow me.” This imperative is far from easy. Many turned away from Jesus, unable to follow. However, one excellent model of “followership” stood out from the rest – the little-known disciple Andrew. In fact, Andrew is the model and paradigm for being a Lead Follower. Excellent Christian leadership is more about following Jesus than it is about learning the latest fads or tricks from business, the marketplace, or the academy. Being an excellent Christian leader involves first and foremost being an excellent and faithful follower of Jesus Christ.

What does authentic Christian counseling look like in practice? This volume explores how five major perspectives on the interface of Christianity and psychology would each actually be applied in a clinical setting. Respected experts associated with each of the perspectives depict how to assess, conceptualize, counsel and offer aftercare to Jake, a hypothetical client with a variety of complex issues. In each case the contributors seek to explain how theory can translate into real-life counseling scenarios. This book builds on the framework of Eric L. Johnson’s Psychology & Christianity: Five Views. These include the Levels-of-Explanation Approach, the Integration Approach, the Christian Psychology Approach, the Transformational Approach and the Biblical Counseling Approach. While Christianity and Counseling can be used independently of Johnson’s volume, the two can also function as useful companions. Christians who counsel, both those in practice and those still in training, will be served by this volume as it strengthens the connections between theory and practice in relating our faith to the mental health disciplines. They will finally get an answer to their persistent but unanswered question: “What would that counseling view look like behind closed doors?”

    • Short Term Mission

      $36.99

Over the past few decades, short-term mission trips have exploded in popularity. With easy access to affordable air travel, millions of American Christians have journeyed internationally for ministry, service and evangelism. Short-term trips are praised for involving many in global mission but also critiqued for their limitations. Despite the diversity of destinations, certain universal commonalities emerge in how mission trip participants describe their experiences: “My eyes were opened to the world’s needs.” “They ministered to us more than we ministered to them.” “It changed my life.” Anthropologist Brian Howell explores the narrative shape of short-term mission (STM). Drawing on the anthropology of tourism and pilgrimage, he shows how STM combines these elements with Christian purposes of mission to create its own distinct narrative. He provides a careful historical survey of the development of STM and then offers an in-depth ethnographic study of a particular mission trip to the Dominican Republic. He explores how participants remember and interpret their experiences, and he unpacks the implications for how North American churches understand mission, grapple with poverty and relate to the larger global church. This groundbreaking book sheds light on how American Christians undertake short-term mission. It is important reading for all who celebrate or lament what happens when Christians travel overseas.

      Additional Info
In the last century, more studies of the parables were produced than for any other section of comparable length in the Bible. The problem is that few students of the Bible have access to these studies. In this substantially new and expanded edition, Craig Blomberg surveys and evaluates the contemporary critical approaches to the parables–including those that have emerged in the twenty years since the first edition was published. The classic works of C. H. Dodd and Joachim Jeremias set the direction for nearly all further parable studies in this century. Embodied in both scholars’ approaches are at least two assumptions that, for the most part, have gone unchallenged: (1) Parables make one and only one main point. (2) Parables are not allegories. But can these assumptions be supported by the evidence? Challenging this view and making his own important new contribution to parable studies, Blomberg argues that within proper definitions and limits, the parables are in fact best seen as allegories. In support of this “minority report” concerning parable interpretation, Blomberg not only sets forth theoretical considerations but devotes attention to all the major parables, providing brief interpretations that highlight the insights to be gained from his distinctive method.

    • Redescubrimiento Del Espiritu – (Spanish)

      $14.99

For some of us, being a Christian is harder than it should be. Discouraged, anxious, worn down, we wonder what happened to the power and the joy Jesus promised. ‘You can have regular devotions, great preaching, a strong emphasis on the Bible, a great worship team, and a congregation that is trying hard,’ Cymbala writes, ‘but if you aren’t vitally in touch with God’s Spirit, you are missing out on the life God has for you.’ The Holy Spirit is God’s agent on earth. Yet he is the least understood, least preached about, and least discussed member of the Trinity. This is sad because without him our spiritual lives will always be dry, mechanical, and a struggle. With stunning stories of how God is working in the lives of people and churches today and with biblical teaching about the Holy Spirit, Jim Cymbala invites you to experience God in a fresh and vital way. If we want power, confidence, joy, peace, and more love in our lives, then we need a better understanding of how and why the Spirit moves so we can join him there.
