    • Last Run Of The Whisperer

      $24.95

“Last Run of the Whisperer” is a historical fiction novel based upon the Revolutionary War records of William Waterman of Norwich, Connecticut colony. The author has taken the information that William Waterman has provided to us through his own account of his service in the American Revolution, when he petitioned the United States Congress in 1832, for a pension for said service.

The author has taken the information provided by William Waterman and completed extensive research on the battles and areas of service that our hero served in, embellishing and expounded upon this information, to develop an exciting and accurate historical story surrounding our hero, William Waterman.

William Waterman himself, in his petition to the United States Congress identifies one severe wound received in said service, at the battle of White Plain, in the colony of New York, above New York City. This wound by itself could have cost our hero his life. That he survived this wound and the numerous other battles and action that he undoubtedly saw was extraordinary.

Although William Waterman lists a number of battles and theatres of war he saw service in, he does not describe the details of these battles. The author takes his literary liberty, upon researching these battles and events to interject our hero into the battles. That William Waterman is involved in each and everyone of these battles or theatres of war in based upon William Waterman’s own account.

Upon his completion of service in the Continental army, William Waterman listed his next service as a privateer, that is as a licensed pirate. The author has taken the liberty to believe that William Waterman engaged as a privateer in the cause of the upstart Americans and prayed upon British shipping , as he makes no mention of serving the British in his petition to the United States Congress, and infact lists his service as a privateer in his petition for his pension, indicating that all of his papers and records of his service in the Continental army were lost when the ship he was engaged on as a privateer was sunk, leading to his subsequent imprisonment by the British on the prison ship “Jersey”. Our hero, William Waterman also does not identify the name of the ship on which he was engaged as a privateer. Again the author takes his literary liberty to name the privateer ship, and thus we have the “Last Run of the Whisperer”.

During the course of our adventure, William Waterman looses his boyhood frien

    • Martha : A Novel

      $21.25

Perhaps one of the most misunderstood and misrepresented characters of the New Testament is Martha. Often painted in the colors of reproach, Martha seems to be the poster child for how not to be a follower of Jesus. From the mind of Diana Wallis Taylor comes this touching, well-researched portrayal of Martha of Bethany, sister of Mary and Lazarus. Through Taylor’s lush descriptions and inspired combination of imagined and recorded dialogue, Martha’s world–her trials, triumphs, and loves–vibrantly comes to life. Follow Martha as she is jilted by her betrothed, falls in love with a Roman soldier, grieves the death of her father, cares for her siblings, and serves her Lord with dignity and grace. Readers will never read the biblical story of Martha the same way again.

Spanning the continents, three internationally respected theologians demonstrate how the thought and legacy of Martin Luther can serve in an ecumenical and interfaith context as a resource for a radical critique of global economics and culture.

Lutheran Christianity originated in its own era of economic and cultural crisis. One of the great misinterpretations of Martin Luther has considered his heritage as fundamentally reactionary, seeking to preserve the political status quo. Instead, set free by the biblical message of liberation, this book wields Luther’s theology to engage the reality of poverty, hunger, oppression, and ecological degradation caused by an imperial capitalism as the most urgent theological issues in the contemporary world. The volume demonstrates the liberating possibilities of theology done out of a biblical and Lutheran perspective for the economic and cultural crises facing the church in the present century.

    • Replenish : Leading From A Healthy Soul (Reprinted)

      $17.99

Every leader functions on two stages–the front stage or public world, and the back stage or private world. One cannot lead successfully front stage when one is completely depleted back stage. In a time when pastors are leaving the ministry in record numbers due to cynicism, disillusionment, weariness, and personal scandals, there is an urgent need for soul care in the private lives of leaders.

address problems that lead to burnout
create a healthy rhythm in their lives
improve their people skills and the

      $49.98

The relationship between the so-called ‘theological’ (Eph 1 – 3) and ‘paraenetic’ (Eph 4-6) sections of Ephesians has been a matter of extensive scholarly discussion. Central to the debate is the question whether the ethical material found in Ephesians 4-6 is an integral part of the theological statements in Ephesians 1-3, or whether it is merely an appendage with its own self-contained theology. This study undertakes a fresh investigation into the relationship between the ‘theological’ and ‘paraenetic’ sections of Ephesians. It demonstrates the intrinsic integration of both parts of the letter by examining the soteriological pattern of Ephesians, and how salvation entails the moral social transformation of believers; this, in turn, renders meaningless the category-distinction between ‘theology’ and ‘ethics’.

    • Radical Hospitality : Benedict’s Way Of Love (Expanded)

      $19.99

For readers of “The Benedict Option”, here is another invaluable collection of Benedictine wisdom to live by. Today’s culture is increasingly hostile and suspicious toward anyone who appears to be different–especially when tragedy strikes. Our instinct is to bolt our doors and protect the ones we love. But deep within the heart of Benedictine spirituality lies a remedy to hatred, fear, and suspicion: hospitality. At once deeply comforting and sharply challenging, true Benedictine hospitality requires that we welcome the stranger, not only into our homes, but into our hearts. With warmth and humor, drawing from the monastic tradition and sharing personal anecdotes from their own lives, Pratt and Homan encourage us to embrace not only the literal stranger, but the stranger within and the stranger in those we love.

    • Preparation For Eternity With God

      $41.26

Our time is short on this earth. Jesus will soon be returning to take His children home … but are we ready? There are preparations we can make. The book you are holding is a story about fighting the good fight of faith and conquering it with Christ’s help. God’s Word says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” (Hosea 4:6) The Bible also says, “The truth shall make you free … ye shall be free indeed.” (John 8:32,36)

Author Rick Streight speaks heart-to-heart with the reader about the realities of the Christian journey and the reward that is waiting for us. He also speaks about the dangers that surround us, the temptations we often struggle with, and how to overcome sin through Christ.

He asks a major question: “Why hasn’t Jesus come yet ?” This book answers that important question.

Are you spiritually homesick? God has made a plan that we may have “… boldness in the day of Judgment.” (1 John 4:17) Jesus depended totally on His Father for wisdom and power. If we depend on Jesus, we can receive that same power to live the Christian life maturely, with no short cuts-that’s God’s way! This book also provides answers as to how we can hasten Jesus’s second coming.

May we all prepare ourselves for “the day of the Lord” through in-depth study of His Word with much prayer. Ask God, “How do I apply these things I am learning to my life?”

      $50.60

A chance meeting of a sailor and a maid, on a river boat on a trip from New Orleans to St. Louis brings love and frustration. She, Peggy O’Neal, is to be the bride of a man she has never met, the brother of a Union General. Her father wants to be a Congressman, so he barters Peggy to a rich man for campaign money. The sailor, Jake Prosser, met the ship’s captain while in high school and is now assigned on his ship.
The war starts bringing challenges at Natchez, Vicksburg and Memphis. At St. Louis, a general’s wife, Evelyn Patterson, interferes with the wedding plans because she knows her brother-in-law’s intent is to destroy any decent woman he meets. Evelyn takes Peggy to her home in Cincinnati where the young woman gets a job teaching school . Peggy leads Evelyn to Christ. To help in Evelyn’s growth, Peggy takes over preaching assignments when the regular minister is put on overtime in his ship building job. The test comes when her husband comes home to find a church in his house.

Jake is assigned to test a new weapon, the Gatling gun, and teaches other sailors about its power. His weapon helps quell an Indian uprising in the North Central States. He is given a grade raise, which causes trouble with the old timers in the navy. Assigned to a new ship, he finds Peggy in Cincinnati and they declare their love. In a battle at the Rebel Fort Donelson, Jake is burned severely on his face, making him wish he was dead. A visit by the general, Courtney Clay Patterson, and Peggy bring him out of his depression. His looks cause comments by Peggy’s friend, so they agree, after marriage, to go to Montana to work on a cattle ranch, where, during a severe rain storm, Jake discovers gold.

    • Let God Change Your Life

      $14.99

Evangelist Greg Laurie calls all Christians back to radical New Testament living in his latest offering, Let God Change Your Life.

Imagine what it would have been like to be a follower of Jesus; first-century Christians walked away from their old lives just to be where He was. What they learned, sitting at His feet, was discipleship. And when His work on earth was done, first-century Christians took His words and example and spread out, teaching the gospel to everyone.

The good news is that we, too, can participate in this lifestyle. Laurie drills it down in three simple ideas: get to know Jesus, follow His plan for discipleship, and use it to tell others what we know. Laurie’s tone is clear, direct, and biblical.

    • Suffering : Christian Reflections On The Buddhist Dukkha

      $21.16

What is dukkha? In Buddhism this word encompasses the concepts of dis-ease, unsteadiness, sorrow, and lack of inner calm. In English it is usually translated simply as “suffering”. However it is defined, dukkha is central to understanding Buddhism. The Buddha described not only what it was, but taught that there is a way out of it.

Suffering is an undeniable theme in both Christianity and Buddhism. Both treat the topic with great intensity. Buddha taught that suffering was inherent to the mortal condition. Christ was born into a life of suffering and called disciples to follow him in this path. Through enlightenment Buddha pointed to a way out of suffering. Through his death Christ suffered once for all. Both groups experience suffering but often talk about it from completely different starting points. Are there insights from each perspective that can inform the other? We believe so.

    • Banned Questions About Jesus

      $19.99

      50 Questions

      Additional Info
Some of the questions discussed in this book include:
      * Why did Jesus have to suffer so much before he died? Or did he have to?
      * What happened during the “missing years” of Jesus’ life unaccounted for in the Bible?
      * Does it really matter if Jesus was born to a virgin or not? What if Mary wasn’t a virgin, or if Joseph (or someone else) was the father?
      * The Bible says that Jesus had siblings. Does that mean that there are people alive today who are from his family’s bloodline? Where are they? Who are they?

From Christian Piatt: “When I was a teenager, my youth minister threw a bible at my head for asking questions. Too often, for various reasons, people don’t have the opportunity to ask the hard questions they have about faith, religion, salvation and the bible. And when questions are left unanswered in communities of faith, people either seek answers elsewhere or lose interest all together.

“The purpose of the series is to collect the most compelling and challenging questions from various theological areas and pose them to a panel of “experts” who are challenged with responding in two hundred words or less in plain English. This volume addresses challenging or controversial questions about scripture collected from people on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and other social networking media.

“Respondents include theology professors, clergy, lay leaders, liberals, conservatives and voices representing a spectrum of views. The idea behind the books is not so much to provide definitive answers as it is to stimulate thought, reflection and discussion. By offering multiple perspectives, readers have the opportunity to arrive at their own questions. Better, they come to understand that questioning faith is not taboo, but rather that it can be at the foundation of a strong and growing faith.

“The directive given to each respondent guided them to be concise and to speak in plan language, but also not to rely exclusively on “the Bible says it” justifications, or to wax abstract or overly intellectual. Instead, they write from personal experience as much as possible, and provide real-life contexts that will allow the average seeker or churchgoer to apply such ideas to their daily lives.”

    • Hermeneutics As A Theory Of Understanding 1

      $33.99

In this primer on hermeneutics, Petr Pokorny takes up basic issues in understanding from language in general to the interpretation of the Bible.

While Hermeneutics as a Theory of Understanding deals with most of the problems of hermeneutics and their role in society and impact in history, the book’s main aim is not to introduce new methodologies or to investigate the character of human understanding by new probes into literary or historical documents. Instead, Pokorny’s principal intention is to define the philosophical and theological premises of individual projects of understanding – their interrelations, meaning, and function in interpretation, especially that of ancient texts such as the Bible.

Pokorny’s work here functions admirably both as a text for students and as a monograph that suggests new paths in hermeneutical discussion.

      $21.23

The Book of Revelation is not a book of doom and gloom but the victory of the Lamb of God and those who follow Him-The Overcomers. In this groundbreaking three-volume series, Dr. Richard Booker helps you understand the Book of Revelation by explaining John’s vision within its intriguing original historical, literary, and biblical context. This three-volume series gives a more balanced understanding of the book of Revelation by emphasizing the background and setting in which John received and wrote his revelation. The author explains how this background information actually determined the words that Jesus and John used in what became the book of Revelation. Without this background information, it is really impossible to understand why Jesus and John said what they said. The author connects this background information and the message in the book of Revelation with a prophetic word to our world today. • Sobrevivira Estados Unidos – (Spanish)

      $20.99

This new book by New York Times best-selling author and pastor, John Hagee, says the United States is heading into a “Perfect Storm.” Titanic. John F. Kennedy’s assassination. 9/11. John Hagee maintains that these American tragedies all have one element in common: they were unthinkable. And in the opening pages of his newest book, Can America Survive? Hagee uses these tragedies to prove two points: that the unthinkable can happen and, given the right conditions, the unthinkable can quickly become the inevitable.

In Can America Survive? Hagee asserts that the seeds for tragedy are once again being sown, evidenced by the disturbing economic, geopolitical, and religious trends that now threaten to dismantle the very nation itself. “Think it can’t happen?” Hagee asks in a theme repeated throughout the book. “Think again.” Indeed, Hagee presents alarming examples of recent events, current research, scientific evidence, and biblical prophecy that are gathering to create a “perfect storm” that could bring down the “unsinkable” United States of America including:
*The U.S.’s negligent handling of Israel, and history’s evidence of the danger to any nation that challenges Israel’s God-mandated right to exist
*The dangerous belittling of Iran’s nuclear threat by careless spy agencies-and the super-weapon that could stop the U.S. in its tracks instantly
*The chilling biblical prophecy that confirms Iran as one of six countries that will form an Islamic military force “as a cloud to cover the land”
*The real $2.5 trillion price tag of healthcare reform, the international currency shifts, and the national economic trends that are poised to bring about the death of the American dollar
*The criminalization of Christianity around the world

Can America Survive? is not just a warning. It is a wake-up call and a rallying cry to Christian citizens everywhere to prevent the next unthinkable American disaster. After all, as Hagee points out, “those who do not remember the mistakes of the past are doomed to repeat them in the future.” Think it can’t happen? Think again.

    • Colors Of Hope (Reprinted)

      $25.00

The Christian life, says Richard Dahlstrom, should be guided by the intentional goal of blessing the lives of the friends, loved ones, and strangers in our midst. We are called to impact a culture that, for all the rhetoric about hope, is overwhelmingly preoccupied with personal peace, prosperity, protection, and survival. Christians should be artists who paint with the colors of hope in a broken world, embodying Christ’s redemptive presence in our personal lives, our work, and our relationships.

This inspiring and practical book offers tools for living out this vision in daily life, with special attention given to the challenges we face in staying focused on the mission of imparting hope to others even while dealing with our own personal issues. Anyone who wishes they could have an impact on the world will cherish this unique book.

    • Semillas De Conflicto – (Spanish)

      $13.99

A clear, in-depth biblical explanation of the origin, history, and significance of the Middle East conflict. The current conflict in the Middle East began long before the creation of the state of Israel in 1948. It originated when Abraham sinned, distorting God’s promise that he and his heirs would make a great nation and inherit the land now called The Holy Land. A historical and political account, Seeds of Turmoil clearly explains the biblical story of Abraham, Sarah, and Hagar and the ensuing sibling rivalry between Jacob and Esau, whose choices formed the world’s three most influential religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. This fascinating insight into the beginnings of the conflict also explains what about the land is so important today. In addition, Wright sheds light on the conflicting Jewish, Christian, and Islamic perspectives and answers the question, Does God play favorites?
